We tend to assume that if a product feels good, it must be doing something useful.

But skin is a barrier. It’s designed to keep things out. That means many skincare ingredients, especially larger ones, don’t travel very far below the surface. In skin science, this is often described by what’s known as the “500 Dalton rule”.

Skincare still has value. Hydration, comfort and barrier support matter. But this is why topical products don’t always create the kind of deeper change people expect.

Cosmetic tourism is rising, and so are the risks.

Style Magazine recently explored why more Australians are travelling overseas for cosmetic procedures, and the findings should give anyone pause.

Overseas surgery packages often look glossy and convenient, but surgery is never simple. Safe hospital standards, thorough planning, specialist training and dependable aftercare can vary widely from country to country.

In Australia, specialist plastic surgeons such as Dr Rohan Page complete more than a decade of accredited training and work within strict safety and regulatory frameworks. This means patients receive clear consent processes, evidence based planning and long term follow up that genuinely supports safer outcomes.

If you are comparing your options, focus on more than the price.

Your body deserves reputable care, not a rushed decision.

Rapid weight loss is reshaping more than waistlines, many people are noticing changes in their facial appearance, whether the loss is natural, lifestyle-driven or supported by medications like Ozempic or Mounjaro.

These shifts aren’t caused by one specific drug; they relate to reduced facial fat, natural ageing, and the way the skin adapts when the body changes quickly.

If your face looks different and you’re unsure why, a clinical consultation can help clarify what’s happening and which options may be suitable for your individual circumstances. This may include skincare guidance, non-surgical collagen-supporting treatments, or, where appropriate, surgical options.

BEFORE + AFTER

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Before and after photos of a mother in her late 50s, showing results 6 months after abdominoplasty. This patient presented with abdominal muscle weakness, re**us abdominis separation, an abdominal hernia identified on ultrasound, and excess skin and localised fat through the central and lower abdomen that persisted despite exercise and diet.

This is an actual patient who has consented to the use of their images.

Surgery performed by Dr Rohan Page, Specialist Plastic Surgeon. AHPRA Registration Number: MED0001531370.

If you are considering a procedure, book a consultation on 08 9380 0388.

Beauty Sleep: It’s Not a Myth!

When you drift off, your body isn’t just resting — it’s repairing. During deep sleep, collagen production supports skin structure and recovery.

👉 Skimp on sleep and your skin may show it: sometimes with dullness, dryness or slower repair.
👉 Prioritise 7–9 hours to give your body the best chance to restore and recharge.

So yes — those extra zzz’s can really make a difference!
