Water vs Oil

Have your dry eye symptoms taken you to the chemist for eye drops? Have you looked at what’s available and thought where do I start? Here is your basic 101 on eye drops available for dry eye symptoms.

Aqueous/ water based drops- coats the surface of the eye to assist with irritation. When you are unable to produce tears it can draw moisture to the eye for longer lasting relief.

Lipid-based/ oil drops- slows evaporation to rebuild the thin layer. This reduces grittiness and overall irritation.

I began my studies back in 2013, driven by a passion for skin health and helping people feel their best. In 2021, I advanced my studies and skills to broaden my knowledge and offer more specialised treatments.

Today, I’m proud to work as a Dermal Therapist at WA Eye Specialists, where I provide advanced dry eye treatments and assist our plastic and reconstructive surgeon in procedures. I love to deliver exceptional patient care.
