John Fawcett Foundation Since 1991 We have performed over 60,000 sight restoring operations, screened over 1.2 million patients, and given out more than 546,000 prescription glasses.

We provide Sight Restoration Surgery and Blindness Prevention, Children’s Cleft Palate and Burns Corrective Surgery, Prosthetic Eyes and Technology Transfer Services free of charge to those in need from our base in Sanur, Bali, Indonesia. Across Bali, many people live with preventable blindness simply because eye care isn’t accessible where they are.

Through our Bali Eye Programs, the JFF medical team travels from village to village, screening up to 500 people in a single day. Glasses are provided on the spot, infections are treated, and those with cataracts often receive surgery in our mobile eye clinic that travels alongside the team.

The following day, each patient returns for post-operative checks and care guidance, ensuring lasting recovery.

In Indonesia’s outer islands, distance often decides who gets medical care and who doesn’t.

Our Offshore Eye Programs bridge that gap. Over 3–5 days, the JFF team screens up to 3,000 people and performs 200–300 cataract surgeries, working in partnership with local hospitals and health departments.

School visits are also part of every trip, checking children’s vision and teaching them simple eye care habits that can prevent future problems.

It’s a practical kind of giving, one that brings essential healthcare to places where it’s rarely within reach.

Think of a Christmas sleigh, but instead of toys, a full operating theatre on wheels. Our Mobile Eye Clinic travels to remote villages in Bali and across Indonesia, bringing free eye care to those who cannot travel to the hospital. 🛷 👓
