She links this to the modern concept of the gut-brain axis, noting that digestion affects neurotransmitters like serotonin, and describes Ayurveda’s framework of Agni (digestive fire): strong Agni supports clarity and steadiness, while weak Agni leads to irregular digestion, toxin buildup (ama), and symptoms like mental fog, heaviness, and irritability.
