Meet another face behind the support 💛
This is Kate, our Specialist Support Coordinator south of the river.
A little get-to-know-you moment — because navigating the NDIS is easier when you genuinely know (and trust) the person supporting you.

Throwback to the Purple Shadow Gala 💜 Our co‑founders were proud to attend this elegant black‑tie evening supporting Epilepsy WA.

The gala brings the community together to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and fund essential services for people living with epilepsy across Western Australia. Epilepsy WA’s work includes support, education, advocacy, and initiatives like Purple Month and the Purple Walk — all helping to bring epilepsy ‘out of the shadows.’

It was inspiring to see so many individuals and organisations come together to make a difference in the lives of people living with epilepsy.

🗣️ Networking in the North
🫂 Community vibes
🍦 Mr Whippy

Brooke & Emily were out and about today at the Disability Events Community Expo in Midland — networking in the North alongside so many providers, families, and community members. There were some fantastic conversations and connections focused on improving outcomes for participants and strengthening our community 💛

(Also… bonus points for Mr Whippy and face-painter “tattoos” 😉)

Big changes are coming to the NDIS planning process from mid‑2026! 🌟

Here’s a what we know so far of:
- How the new planning process works
- What it could mean for participants
- What the sector is saying about opportunities and concerns

The goal? More person‑centred, fair, and consistent plans — but the conversation around human judgment and flexibility continues..

💬 How do you feel about these changes? Share your thoughts below!

Recent events in the Perth disability community have been deeply upsetting, and our thoughts are with everyone affected.

Right now, many participants and families are receiving plan extensions, followed by unexpected “check-in” calls from NDIS Planners. In some cases, these calls are being used as plan reviews without participants being told, very often without Support Coordinators involved, and leading to funding cuts. These experiences can be confusing and stressful — but you do have rights.

If you have Support Coordination funding, you can:
• Ask if a conversation is part of a plan review
• Request your Support Coordinator is included
• Ask for time to provide evidence before decisions are made
• Reschedule the conversation if you need time to prepare

You’re not being difficult by asking questions — you’re protecting your supports. Clear communication and proper advocacy can make all the difference.

One of the fundamental responsibilities of a Support Coordinator is to assist participants and families through plan reviews. Lately, we’ve noticed that some participants are being encouraged to speak with Planners or LACs without their Support Coordinator present during these "check ins". We strongly recommend involving your Support Coordinator in any planning conversations — similar to having a trusted advisor present in other important discussions.

Even if you’re expecting a plan extension, it’s wise to gather and keep evidence on file in case a review happens unexpectedly. Being prepared helps you feel confident and supported.

If you’re unsure about your plan or feel anxious about a review, reach out early — even a conversation can make a big difference.

Your clinical reasoning is sound.
Does your documentation reflect it?

We train providers to write reports the NDIA actually understands.
Visit our website to view our training catalogue.

Too often, “training” barely scratches the surface.
We’ve all walked away thinking “I could’ve Googled that” or “this wasn’t new to me.”

That’s why our training is fully customised to your discipline within the disability sector — practical, applied, and grounded in real NDIA decision-making.

Because outcomes for participants depend on strong evidence.
And with funding becoming harder to secure, best-practice documentation is no longer optional — it’s essential.

🎄 Holiday Wrap-Up from Rosie Disability Services 🎄

Thank you! To our participants, families, carers, and everyone who’s trusted us this year — we see you, we appreciate you, and we really mean it 💛

This year has been full of stories, milestones, and moments that remind us why we do what we do. And as much as we love being there for our participants, we know it’s important to press pause, breathe, and spend time with the people who keep us going.

So here’s the plan:
📅 We’ll be closed on 25 & 26 December, and 1 January
During this time, our responses may be slower than usual as our Coordinators enjoy some well-earned rest, family time, and maybe a sneaky mince pie (or two).

We also want to acknowledge that the holidays aren’t easy for everyone. For some, it’s a time of joy — for others, it can be a bit heavy. Check in on your friends, neighbours, and loved ones. Send a kind message, give someone a call, or simply show up with a smile. It matters. And if you or someone you care about needs a little extra support, help is always available:

📞 Lifeline – 13 11 14
📞 Beyond Blue – 1300 22 4636
📞 Su***de Call Back Service – 1300 659 467

From all of us at Rosie Disability Services: thank you for being part of our community. We’re taking a short break, but we’ll be back business as usual in 2026, ready to support, celebrate, and continue building with you.

✨ Wishing you warmth, connection, and a little bit of festive magic this holiday season ✨
