🌍 World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week (WAAW) | 18–24 November 2025 🌍

This year’s theme is “Act Now: Protect Our Present, Secure Our Future.” 💊🌱
A timely reminder that the choices we make today in how we use antimicrobials directly impact the health of tomorrow.

In veterinary dermatology, we see AMR firsthand - stubborn skin infections, chronic otitis, and cases that stop responding to treatment. That’s why antimicrobial stewardship matters more than ever.🦠

Here’s how we can act now:
🔹 Use antimicrobials only when necessary
🔹 Opt for topical or non-antibiotic treatments where possible
🔹 Educate clients about proper dosing and duration
🔹 Maintain hygiene and infection control protocols
🔹 Advocate for One Health: protecting animals, humans, and the environment

Every prescription is a chance to do better. Let’s make each one count, for our patients and for the future.💙

Fridays in the office look like this 🐶💋

Puppy kisses, happy nurses, and just the right amount of chaos to end the week on a high note.🤪

This is a before-and-after of dremelling hyperkeratosis from the primary digital pads where thick, crusty keratin builds up and can make walking uncomfortable or even painful for dogs.

Reducing this excess keratin helps restore comfort and improves mobility, especially in patients with chronic skin conditions.

It’s one of the many ways we help keep paws healthier and pets happier.❤️‍🩹

Okay, we’re proud to say… we’re actually on time this year! (Well, almost - it’s early November and not October, but who’s counting?😉)

LJ, thank you for 13 years of loyalty, laughter, and excellence. We’re so lucky to have you as a senior part of our crew - here’s to many more milestones together!💚

Is your pet constantly itchy or dealing with recurring ear infections? 🐶👂

Intradermal allergy testing helps us identify the root cause - whether it’s grasses, moulds, dust mites or pollens. 🌿

We inject tiny amounts of 72 allergens into the skin and watch for reactions - just like in this video!

In just 15 minutes, we get a clear allergy profile that lets us create a personalised immunotherapy plan. 💉

Say goodbye to endless itching and flare-ups and hello to long-term relief. 🐾

Monitoring Monday 🩺🐾

A perfect day to talk about how we care for patients undergoing RUSH immunotherapy - whether it’s for environmental allergens or bee and wasp venom.

These patients stay with us throughout the day while we administer gradually increasing doses of their specific allergens.
They’re closely monitored from start to finish to ensure they’re safe and comfortable as their immune system is gently retrained.❤️‍🩹

Behind every dermatology procedure is a carefully monitored patient 💙

Whether under sedation or general anaesthesia, every patient is closely supervised using advanced monitoring and always with Dr Gabby or Dr Hilda by their side.

Your pet’s safety is our priority, every single time 🐾

We’re obsessed with how strong these intradermal allergy test reactions were 😍🔥

This is intradermal allergy testing, where we inject tiny amounts of allergens under the skin to identify environmental triggers.

It’s one of the most reliable ways to diagnose atopic dermatitis in dogs and helps us build a customised immunotherapy plan.

This pup had some of the most reactive results we’ve seen in a while!

It might be Monday, but this sweet pup is still wagging through it – even under sedation! 🐾💤

Tail wags like this remind us why we love what we do. Whether it’s a procedure or a check-up, we’re here to make sure your pets are comfortable, safe, and cared for every step of the way. 💙

🐾 Itchy ears? Red rashes? Upset tummy?

Your dog might be trying to tell you something… 🐶💬

Food allergies can show up as skin irritation, ear infections, or digestive issues, and the only way to know for sure is through a proper elimination diet trial.

At Animal Dermatology Clinic, we often recommend:
🔹 Hypoallergenic for puppies
🔹 Anallergenic for adult dogs and those with more severe or complex allergies

Both diets are designed to be gentle on the immune system while providing complete, balanced nutrition to support overall health. 🦴💙

✨ Why these diets work:
• Made with hydrolyzed proteins that are less likely to trigger allergic reactions
• Nutritionally complete for long-term feeding
• Available in dry and canned formats (Hypoallergenic)

💡 Tips for a successful food trial:
🚫 No treats, table scraps, flavoured chews, or toothpaste — even a small bite can reset the trial!
📓 Keep a daily record of itchiness, stool quality, and skin condition
🦴 Use the same diet kibble as training treats
🕐 Be patient - results are usually seen after 6–8 weeks of consistency
💧 Make sure your dog always has access to fresh water

Every food trial is a journey, and we’re here to guide you and your dog every step of the way. 💙
