AN OBSERVATION: meditation, listening, before and after.
I practice vedic meditation and it is always a delight when I can do this at my local park ‘Boodjamooling’ (Hyde Park).
‘Lifing’ and being human to me recently has been extremely logistical involving ‘code switching’ from parent, to carent to sound bath facilitator to freelancer, to partner and so on…the ongoing juggle.
To pay respect to the pause between the juggling, I recently took some time to meditate close to the birds and water and found myself hyper aware of the bird song and communication around me while I meditated. When I started there was so much chatter, overlapping sounds and frequencies that were busy and chaotic. When I finished I noticed how the birdsong and sound was quite spacious and relatively clear.
I found this quite fascinating to observe and find a correlation between my ‘monkey mind’ of chatter at the start of my meditation, and the chatter of the birds, in comparison to my calmer state of mind and nervous system at the end of my meditation and the surrounding serene sounds. Interesting to observe and be aware of.
