HOW SWEET IS THIS MANGO? 🥭

It is always a delight to receive wonderful feedback following our Sonorous Sound Bath & Reiki offerings, however one of our regular folk kindly gifted Renee & I with mangoes from her garden, following our session on Sunday. Ahh, sweet mangoes - joy, love & prosperity 💛

The mango colour was so rich I couldn’t help but adorn them with some crystals, so cute!

INTRODUCING SOUND BATH MEDITATION
TO YEAR 7 STUDENTS with

Yesterday I had the honour of holding space in sound for the Year 7 girls at .

Their unique full day schedule, ‘The Kindness Challenge,’ focused on community care and self care with a focus on yoga, music and movement, broadening their perspective on kindness in our community and sound meditation 💜💜

I facilitated 50 minute sessions for 6 groups of 30 girls throughout the day and spoke of sound nutrition, deep listening and shared simple tools to help them when they are overwhelmed. It was an exchange with them and their thoughts which I loved!!

To help anchor them and drop into the safety of the sounds, I introduced my beautiful instrument family and guided them through a full body meditation - and in each session there were students that fell into a delta sleep state 💤💤

Being a Mama of twin girls who are in Year 7, this age group was very special and connected for me. The joy of introducing our youth to these practices is an absolute treasure to help plant seeds for theirs and the communities future of wellbeing.

AN OBSERVATION: meditation, listening, before and after.

I practice vedic meditation and it is always a delight when I can do this at my local park ‘Boodjamooling’ (Hyde Park).

‘Lifing’ and being human to me recently has been extremely logistical involving ‘code switching’ from parent, to carent to sound bath facilitator to freelancer, to partner and so on…the ongoing juggle.

To pay respect to the pause between the juggling, I recently took some time to meditate close to the birds and water and found myself hyper aware of the bird song and communication around me while I meditated. When I started there was so much chatter, overlapping sounds and frequencies that were busy and chaotic. When I finished I noticed how the birdsong and sound was quite spacious and relatively clear.

I found this quite fascinating to observe and find a correlation between my ‘monkey mind’ of chatter at the start of my meditation, and the chatter of the birds, in comparison to my calmer state of mind and nervous system at the end of my meditation and the surrounding serene sounds. Interesting to observe and be aware of.

SOUNDS FROM OUR LINEAGE

It’s always a privilege to spend time with my sister Alice . As she lives on the east coast in Brisbane Meanjin, our time spent together is golden, especially when music and sound is involved. I love being able to hold space for her in sound when I can and was delighted when she lent me these beautiful instruments to share in my sound baths.

Do you know what these instruments are called?

When you close your eyes and listen, how do they make you feel?

Here’s to sharing sounds and frequencies from Indonesia.

HOLDING SPACE FOR MUSIC & SONG

I love singing. I can’t not sing.

In reflecting on life recently I was reminded of the various emotions I experienced during my pregnancy with my twin girls 12 years ago. During my second trimester I focused on singing regularly and playing music to allow the vibrations to move through my body as it changed and my babies growth. I sang with passion and love at home with my speakers turned up loud. I’ve not really shared with anyone. 💕

I have always had music in my home where I have lived. This is passed on from my parents and lineage so my focus in holding and creating space at home has been on music, good speakers and instruments wherever I have lived in the world.

In my humble apartment we have keys, a drum kit, my percussive instruments, guitars and my soundbath instruments.

One of my daughters, Scarlet, loves playing the keys and singing. She is self taught on the keys and is a natural singer. Her technique has improved since she started lessons a couple of years ago. She’s still finding her voice to iron out her range and ability to move between the notes, however she sings and plays without prompting. Our space at home is for play without judgement. Honouring creativity.

I captured this moment last week (🤫) and was in awe as I hadn’t heard her play or practice this song which is a favourite of mine.

Here’s to honouring the space we create and hold for music and song in our world.
