What’s it like being a massage therapist?

Although I specialise in sports, I see a wide variety of clients from all walks of life which makes every session unique.

Engaging with a broader population has really transformed my perspective. I’ve come to appreciate that it’s not solely about fixing a problem. It’s that & so much more.

I focus on fostering my clients well-being & finding out what’s important to them; whether it’s assisting with the healing of an injury or simply helping to maintain their quality of life. 🌸

No pain no gain right?

Well no not necessarily! Let me explain….

For a long time it was thought that the more pain with massage, the better the results. But this is a slightly outdated theory now.

One thing I talk about a lot is muscle guarding.

This is a protective response your body has to pain, injury, or stress & causes involuntarily tightening making it difficult for you to relax.

Some of the techniques I use as a therapist can look fairly subtle but actually produce great results by allowing the muscles to relax before working more deeply into tissues in combination with some gentle joint mobilisations.

Sometimes less is more 🙌🏽
