Research + Treatment + Support all in the one world class centre based at Hollywood Consulting Centre BCRC-WA is a registered charity based at Hollywood Consulting Centre. We are a world leader in breast cancer research, treatment and support. Comprising surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, radiology, pathology, nursing, genetics, allied health and clinical research staff who are involved in the care of men and women diagnosed with breast cancer. An integral part of providing the highest stand of care to patients diagnosed with breast cancer is the ability to involve patients in clinical trials and offer the most up to date treatments. At least 17 of our trials have contributed to enhancement of breast cancer treatment globally. Clinical Trials are the only way to find out which new approaches to cancer treatments will work better than the existing ones. We are the busiest Clinical Trials Unit in Australia per number of staff and the number of patients seen. We deliver broad based education such as Chemo Wise information sessions for people about to start their treatment, our PYNKS group (for women who have metastatic disease), our quarterly newsletter and the Power Of Words which is written by Breast Cancer Patients. Our breast clinic allows patients to self-refer and gain access to rapid diagnosis and treatment to the highest level. This is complemented by a full suite of leading support services.

Felicity’s Story of Hope 💗

Her heartfelt reflections as she courageously shares her journey through grief, body image and relationships.

“Cancer changed my body. Loss and betrayal changed everything else. These were my challenges, but I know many cancer patients carry their own impossible loads. Parenting, financial pressure, caring for others, keeping a job—life doesn’t always wait for you to get well.”

Meet Emma 💗

Diagnosed in 2021 with an aggressive breast cancer at just 41, detected during her very first breast imaging after choosing early surveillance due to her mum’s diagnosis, Emma’s journey is one of resilience and strength.

Today, she’s not just a survivor, but a powerful advocate. Through her fundraising efforts, running events, and the unwavering support of her family and co-workers, Emma has raised over $25,000 for breast cancer research and support.

She’s lacing up once again for the HBF Run for a Reason, running in both memoriam and celebration of Nat and Lindy 💗

We are so grateful for Emma. For her sharing her story, for showing up for others, and for being an incredible Community Ambassador. No one should face breast cancer alone and thanks to people like Emma, fewer have to. 💕

Fatigue is one of the most debilitating side effects for people living with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) but movement can be powerful 💗

In our AREA study at Breast Cancer Research Centre WA, patients with MBC experiencing fatigue completed a 6-week physiotherapist-led exercise program 🧘‍♀️Two-thirds reported significant improvements in fatigue-related quality of life 🌻 along with better emotional, physical and overall wellbeing compared to controls.

We strongly encourage people living with metastatic breast cancer to consider participating in a guided exercise program, in consultation with their care team. Movement matters 🤸‍♀️ even during treatment.
