It was great to be invited to the CBH Group 2026 Annual Sundowner, celebrating the achievements of WA grain growers and the strength of our regional communities.

CBH supports Youth Focus through their Regional Mental Health Program, enabling us to provide telehealth mental health support to young people living in the Wheatbelt, at no cost to them or their parents.

Living in rural Australia presents significant barriers to accessing support. Through our ongoing partnership with CBH, alongside strong connections with local schools and the use of telehealth, we are working to make support more accessible and available for young people in the region.

We are grateful for the continuity of this partnership, which has allowed us to continue to connect young people with professional mental health support, whenever and wherever they need it.

Andrew and Sarah joined fellow local service providers at the second Greater Bunbury Youth Mental Health Forum last week. It was a fantastic event, creating valuable opportunities to connect with local young people, share practical wellbeing tools, and highlight the support services available to them.

A big thank you to Blue Leaf Initiative and the youth steering committee for once again bringing the event to life. Building on last year's energy and enthusiasm, this year's forum once again brought out community together for conversations around mental health, leadership and youth empowerment.

headspace Geraldton started the year settling back into their newly refurbished home at 193 Marine Terrace - the location of Geraldton's new Youth Mental Health Hub.

This welcoming, purpose-built space has been designed to support young people and families in the region by bringing a range of mental health and wellbeing services and support together under one roof.

The redevelopment of the Geraldton Hub has been proudly supported by a generous Lotterywest grant, and our expanded service offering has been made possible through our committed partnership with The Stan Perron Charitable Foundation and the WA Primary Health Alliance. We are so grateful for their commitment to youth mental health in the region.

In 1994, January 26 was officially declared a national public holiday.

However, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been protesting on this date since 1938, when the first Day of Mourning was held to draw attention to the violence, dispossession and inhumane conditions imposed upon Aboriginal communities.

There are many great resources that encourage us to learn about and reflect on what the day means.

Today is a day for listening, respect and kindness. If you need support, help is available:
