OccuMED is owned and operated by its Occupational Physicians & Occupational Physician Registrars, who are Medical Practitioners completing further post graduate study in industrial medicine. Our in-house resources include:
Specialist Occupational Physicians
Occupational Physician Registrars
Nurses/Phlebotomists (instant D&A, lab, breathalyzer, GCMS, Kronic, MRO)
Physiotherapists & Exercise Physiologists (PWPE & Job Specific Musculoskeletal Testing)
A Psychologist (Psychometric Evaluations and Counselling)
Accredited Technicians (audiometry& spirometry)

The reports we distribute to clients contain clear, typed and detailed information that leaves no ‘guess work’ - more than just a tick-box cover sheet enabling clients to re-evaluate our determination on fitness. Our specialists are also happy to take phone calls to clarify matters. For medicals completed at our direct clinics, the reports are turned-around within 8 hours… and this DOES include lab drug & alcohol testing and musculoskeletal testing. For third party medicals undertaken via our national network, the turn-around time averages 3 – 5 working days. Same-day turnaround can also be achieved for some third party clinics, as well as extend to 10 working days for those that are very remote. Online web-booking functionality is also available for your convenience.

This year was OccuMED's first time attending Diggers & Dealers in Kalgoorlie. Being the 30th Diggers & Dealers Mining Forum and the COVID state travel restrictions, we weren't sure just what to expect. So it was great to hear that 2,520 attended and this was the second highest attendance in the history of the forum. Being there it did feel like a lot of people.

It's also a testament to the health of the resources industry and reinforces how we feel about this sector which is an important part of our business.

Congratulations to the Diggers & Dealers team and Board, led by Jim Walker. We're already looking forward to 2022's program.

Dr Roger Lai is a long-time valued member of the OccuMED team who has made significant contributions to the Occupational and Environmental Medicine industry.

Dr Lai currently holds the position of Deputy WA Regional Training Program Director with The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). In this role Dr Lai manages the operation of training programs carried out within WA and provides support to Australian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) trainees within the region.

The RACP is a professional medical college that facilitates specialists education, advocation and innovation of Fellows and Trainees across Australia and New Zealand. For the first time, OccuMED has joined the Diggers & Dealers forum, as Diggers celebrates it's 30th year and OccuMED open their Kalgoorlie clinic.

Diggers & Dealers is Australia’s leading mining forum, that combines corporate presentations alongside a large exhibition. This forum presents what is recognised as one of the best for the resources sector to meet and network, in Kalgoorlie, the unofficial gold mining capital of Australia. With OccuMED opening a new clinic in Kalgoorlie this July, joining this forum and networking with leaders will assist OccuMED in developing a greater understanding of the industry that we will now be working closely with.
