Reading to your child every day can boost vocabulary, improve listening skills, and even help with pronunciation! Make story time fun and interactive by playing with the book, following your child’s lead and adding silly voices.
The “million word gap” comes from a study showing that children who are regularly read to from infancy hear around 1.4 million more words by kindergarten than those who aren’t. This early exposure supports stronger language, vocabulary and learning outcomes.
