Ocean Gardens is an independent retirement living village with home care support in City Beach, Western Australia.

Ocean Gardens is not like other retirement villages. We are a not-for-profit independent living village in beautiful City Beach. Ocean Gardens is an incorporated association governed by its members and a board of independent directors. We are nestled upon 6.5 beautiful hectares, offering stunning residences and first-class facilities within a private coastal setting. And as a single destination, everything you see at Ocean Gardens is the start and end of where our attention is focused.

The Wellness Program celebrates a record-breaking year with over 40% of residents attending classes to improve their health and wellbeing!

Our dedicated Wellness Leads Jo and Niall offer over a dozen weekly classes, ranging from Chair Yoga to Aqua Fit.

The positive feedback from residents inspires our team to make next year's program even stronger. 💪

Our talented staff members performed a showcase of traditional dances, songs and presentations to celebrate Bhutan National Day on 17 December. 🇧🇹

Many residents joined in the festivities to support our Bhutanese staff and embrace the vibrant, diverse community we share at Ocean Gardens.

Please keep in mind that Ocean Gardens' Reception and Kiosk will be closed on Christmas Day and New Years Day, with reduced staff returning on the 2nd of January. Also, Seaview Restaurant will be closed from tomorrow (22nd of December) until the 4th of January.

Over 100 residents came together for our annual Christmas Dinner last Friday. Everyone enjoyed a classic Christmas buffet – complete with turkey, leg ham and Christmas pudding! – before letting loose on the dance floor.

Thank you to the Social Committee and Chef Michelina Lawson for creating such a memorable event.

Congratulations to Amanda Gray who has been appointed to the Ocean Gardens CEO position!

As for the Ocean Gardens board members, we bid a farewell to board director Felicite Black, who has reached her maximum nine-year term with us and welcome appointed board director Robyn Collins, who takes over from Felicite in chairing our Clinical Governance Committee.

We also welcome the newly appointed board director Dane O'Callaghan, who brings a wealth of governance and property development experience to the board as the chair and director of a number of person-centred for-purpose organisations, and also holds a multi-national senior executive role with a large company.

Ocean Gardens is pleased to announce the promotion of Shaun Brewer to the position of Facilities Manager.

Shaun commenced with Ocean Gardens in May 2013 as Gardens Supervisor and has since played an instrumental role in the enhancement of our facilities. His achievements include the renovation of the lawn bowls green and the successful delivery of major refurbishments across the kitchen, laundry, restaurant, and other key areas.

These contributions have significantly improved the quality of life for our residents and the working environment for our staff. We congratulate Shaun on this well-deserved promotion and look forward to his continued leadership in this new role.

Ukulele lessons are underway at Villa 144 for beginners and “newbies” on Thursday mornings 10am ‘till 11:30am with Martin Bunny.

Martin’s aim is to teach enough to bring the ‘students’ to a level where they can go to any of the 40 Ukulele groups in the ‘metro area’ or ‘regional’ groups which range from Esperance to Carnarvon to play-along and sing-along with the locals.

Currently lessons are free and Martin can advise on, or possibly loan, a suitable instrument if you don’t currently have a Ukulele.

We are thrilled to introduce a unique addition to our wellness program - Sound Healing. The session was a huge success, with a full house and glowing feedback. Residents described feeling incredibly calm, peaceful, and refreshed afterward.
