Accessible artwork at this year's Sculpture by the Sea 🌊
Sculpture by the Sea has returned to Cottesloe and is now officially underway following a ceremony with VIPs.
And if you're thinking of going this year with a beloved elder, Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe will be more accessible than ever, thanks to a Lotterywest grant of $336,079 supporting nine days of beach matting.
This accessible matting allows visitors with reduced mobility or who use wheelchairs to get on the beach between Indiana’s and the groyne from 11 to 19 March.
The opening marks the official return to Cottesloe following a hiatus in 2025. This year’s exhibition sees 70 sculptures on display at Perth’s most famous beach, with artists from eight countries participating, including five artists from India who are part of an India Showcase.
Fremantle-based sculptor Stephen Tepper is the recipient of the $10,000 Alcoa Aluminium Sculpture Award for his sculpture ‘Suddenly Everything’s Changed’. He was joined at the opening by this year’s TWA Invited International Artist, Dr Subodh Kerkar whose performance installation titled ‘Oceans and Civilizations’ is now on display.
They were also joined by TWA Invited Aboriginal Artist, Karla Hart who is participating in Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe for the first time with her performance artwork ‘Wardarn Dreaming’.
This year’s Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe runs until 23 March 2026.
