Fertility North has achieved the first pregnancy in WA as part of the PIEZO ICSI trial! PIEZO is a method used in ICSI where, instead of using manual pressure to inject s***m into the egg, a piezoelectric device delivers fast, gentle pulses. This reduces stress on the egg and may lead to better fertilisation and embryo development. The trial is still underway, so if you’re interested in finding out whether you’re eligible, please contact our team.

This World Fertility Day, Dr Rashida Hakeem reminds us that you don’t need to wait to ask for help. Seeking support sooner can make a real difference, especially if you have irregular periods or known conditions like endometriosis or PCOS. Checking in with a fertility specialist early can provide clarity, guidance, and peace of mind. 💙

At the start of an IVF cycle, many follicles may appear on ultrasound, but not every egg is equally viable. From egg collection to fertilisation, embryo development and implantation, the numbers naturally drop along the way due to self-deselection.

This process helps identify the most viable embryo for transfer. However, it’s important to note that not every cycle results in a transfer or a live birth - this is a normal part of IVF.

This visual is for educational purposes only, based on average statistics. Individual experiences can vary widely. At each stage, the proportion of eggs progressing could be anywhere between 0% and 100% of what's shown here, and results will differ for each patient.

This year’s R U OK? message is a reminder that support shouldn’t be limited to just one day – checking in matters every day. For those navigating fertility treatment, the need for support can be ongoing, not only on the visibly hard days. Sometimes a simple check-in with a friend, partner, or even yourself can help ease the emotional load that comes with this journey. And remember, if you’re not ready to talk, that’s okay. Being open to listening, holding space, and showing care can make a world of difference in creating safe, supportive environments. 💙
