As we prepare for 2026, it's a time for reflection on what we have achieved over the past 3 years, how we can work together to improve and sustain the RRCWA and give thanks for your support!
There is much that goes on behind the scenes of the RRCWA thanks to our very small but dedicated Committee!
You may have noticed that we switched our communications to Social Media in an attempt to reach more people, more often. This has proven very successful!
We have had a number of rescues over the past 3 years. Each rehoming process takes much time to find the perfect fit to ensure they find a furrever home. Our biggest challenge was the 3 fur babies in the pics. We called out for help on our socials and your generosity was overwhelming ๐๐ฅฐ
We are thrilled to report that Rusti had eye surgery, sterilisation and mountains of TLC and is now in perfect health ๐ His Mum and Dad, Nylah and Bolt, have both been sterilised and fully vet checked. All 3 have been a foster fail and officially adopted by their fantastic fosterers ๐๐๐
In 2025 we hosted the National Ridgeback Show. It was magnificent to see Ridgebacks from around Australia come together in Perth. Thanks to those who came on down to meet Breeders, watch gorgeous Ridgeys and make the event a success. This will no doubt be the last time such an event comes to Perth due to rising dog transport costs ๐ช
We also did DogsWest Open days, to promote the breed and provide breed education to the public. Our collective breed knowledge on the Committee was put to good use when answering the many enquiries we receive on Ridgey health, training, selection and support. We raised over $4000 for Ridgeys by sizzling sausages over the winter. All of these jobs were done thanks to the donation of time by our Committee volunteers.
At the onset of this Committee's journey, we took on the big task of updating our Constitution to allow non DogsWest Members a presence on the Committee. The goal was to steer the Club into events that the would benefit and unite the wider Ridgeback Community. We asked for ideas, ran suggested courses and, when they proved costly due to low attendance, we moved to hosting social outings to bring people and Ridgeys together.
We had an awesome group who showed up repeatedly for some fun and sharing Ridgey life ๐พ But we still didn't get a volunteer for the Committee to help organise and participate in these events!! Is that you???
We would love to be more involved with our Members. We have plans that did not come to fruition in 2025 due to a lack of time by the Committee. There was simply too much work and too few hands available. We are committed to following through on that in 2026!
๐ฃ How can you help? ๐ฃ
We understand everyone is busy so it's not always possible to donate time. By keeping your Membership current, your donation ensures both the continuity of our Club and the ongoing support to our breed, and their guardians, throughout the whole of WA ๐
Or maybe you have time available?? We'd love to welcome you on board to help us work on some great new initiatives for the coming years. Whether it's a Committee role or just lending a hand we would love to hear from you. ๐ค๐ค๐ค
Ask not what your Ridgeback Club can do for you, but what you can do for your Ridgeback Club! ๐๐พ
