Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been reminded of something really important — how vital it is to rest and actually listen to our bodies.
After my surgery, I was so eager to get back to work and back to “normal.” I care deeply about my clients and didn’t want to let anyone down, so I pushed myself to return earlier than I probably should have. If I’m honest, that decision wasn’t really for me… it was to try and please everyone else.
The reality is our bodies have a way of letting us know when we haven’t given them the time they need. Healing, rest and recovery can’t be rushed, no matter how much we want them to be.
This experience has been a gentle reminder that looking after ourselves isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. When we slow down and listen to our bodies, we give ourselves the best chance to heal, recharge and come back stronger.
As someone who works in a healing space, it’s a lesson I know well… but like many of us, sometimes I need the reminder too.
So if your body is asking for rest, take it. The world will keep turning, and you’ll be much better for it in the long run. 💛
