Listen to me struggle to articulate information like English isn’t my first language 🥴
I can write a whole bunch of big words but will anyone actually read it all or understand?
Let me simplify-
TMJ (jaw) is mirrored by the ilium (hip)
Mandible (lower jaw) balance is responsible for sephenoid, sternum and sacrum movement. Sacrum is responsible for load and propulsion in the hind end.
Pressure on the bars of the mouth engages TMJ and through fascia connection retracts the hind limb.
Think half halt (This is why we “give” the reins to go forward) 💡
Symptoms of TMJ imbalance
Head shy, hanging, reefing, open mouth, crossing jaw, pulling, head tilt, bit resistance, reluctance to turn, affected appetite, hind end disfunction.
Things we can do
Regular bodywork treating the area of concern plus the mirroring joints and muscles to address compensatory patterns.
Yearly dental 🦷 with preference to a dentist who can address bit seat in ridden horses.
