๐ฃ๏ธ Medicare Funding Expanded for Speech Therapy (From 1 March 2026)
Medicare has expanded funding, making speech therapy more accessible for children and young people under 25 who stutter or have unclear speech. This means more families can access assessment and therapy with Medicare rebates.
Whatโs included:
โจ Up to 8 Medicare-rebated assessment sessions (lifetime)
โจ Up to 20 Medicare-rebated therapy sessions (lifetime)
โจ GP referral pathways
โจ Reduced out-of-pocket costs
You may consider speech therapy if your child:
โข Is difficult to understand for their age
โข Is flagged by a teacher, GP, or educator
โข Becomes frustrated or withdrawn when communicating
Other funding options such as NDIS, Chronic Condition Management, and private health rebates may also apply.
