Most people don’t know that refined sugar began its illustrious career as a schedule 5 drug administered only through prescription due to its addictive and stimulatory qualities.
I haven’t eaten any sugar for over a year and no more sweet cravings, at all. I love Christmas fudge, always made my grandmothers recipe which, if not over cooked turned out soft and buttery. So I experimented with oat condensed milk (refined sugar but non dairy so that’s better), coconut sugar, maple syrup (both these don’t affect blood sugar like refined sugar) and good quality butter. At least cutting down the refined sugar by more than half! It came out like toffee brittle that required a hammer 😂 and tastes like burnt caramel deliciousness. That schedule 5 drug kicked in and all I wanted to do was eat sugar!! It was intense and so obvious. Fortunately I know what’s going on & how to rectify it🙌🏻, So I should’ve started this post with “Hi my name is Les and I’m a recovering sugarholic!” 😳 🌲❤️
