What is the Self? The Self is the you that knows what to do. The Self that is wise, compassionate, gentle, loving, powerful, spontaneous and courageous. In this two day journey, I will guide you in deep soulful meditation, movement and sound. This is a safe place, where you will reconnect with your inner Self. Day one: I will gently and safely guide you, slowly and mindfully …….. we will be using self reflective practices, mindfulness, journal writing, meditative practices, group discussion and we will be working through fear, shame and anger in a super safe way. Day two: We will dive deeper into our emotions, using techniques such as, mindfulness, meditation and guided visualization, ...... that will help us explore and release in a super safe and gentle way anything that needs your attention. You'll be supported to safely explore sadness and joy and love, and look at some of your life's purpose. What to bring? Your willingness to commit as fully as you can moment to moment. A journal or note pad, comfortable clothing. I have over 20 years experience working on my own Self and helping others to reconnect. I have a degree in Psychology, and training in mindfulness based psychotherapy, and have been running these new leaf workshops for the last 8 years. Depression or Suppression

The symptoms of depression are real and can be debilitating but what if the answer didn't depend upon medication. Don't get me wrong, sometimes medication is exactly the best thing to help someone through a really hard time. In this article I'm not talking to people that are seriously and chronically depressed. I'm talking to people that want to have a look at what they might be suppressing and are willing to be open enough to explore this theory.

The best tool you have at your disposal is 'mindfulness', that ability to be open and curious enough to be able to pay attention to yourself and your body. Noticing without judgement, listening carefully and discover what your body is telling you. Ask yourself questions like: "what do I need?" "what might help me to get through this thing?"

If you were brought up in a family or society that regards certain emotions as 'bad' or 'not nice', what became your way of dealing with those emotions? Do you just squash it down,suck it up, get over it, move on, have a drink, drug etc?

What if you were able to feel all those feelings in a healthy and safe way? What would you do with the energy that you no longer would need to keep a metaphorical lid on it all?

All that liberated energy would then be available for you to put into your life. You could improve your relationships, explore your personal mission and take steps to realize your dreams.

Anxiety and depression

Are you one of the people suffering the effects of feeling anxious most or all of the time? This could be you if you've got a butterfly feeling in your stomach, if you feel sick, if you find yourself on the toilet more often than you'd like, if you find yourself drinking or drugging more than you'd like.

Have you ever suffered a panic attack? If so, you'll know how awful those feelings were. Feelings intensify to get your attention so if you learn to pay attention to your feelings early on, way before the intensity reaches 10 out of 10 you'll find it much easier to process.

This excess of anxiety can leave you feeling stressed out and exhausted and ultimately lead you to experience some or all the symptoms of depression. Symptoms including and not limited to : Lethargy, sadness, hopelessness, difficulty sleeping, too much sleep, angry outbursts.

Relief from these symptoms can be brought about with careful retraining of ourselves. Retrain ourselves how to feel and thing and talk to ourselves. How can we do that? Mindfulness training is a great start. Learning how to be fully present moment to moment. Feeling what we really feel in a way that doesn't overwhelm our systems. Noticing when you're feeling a 3 or 4 out of 10 feeling is much gentler on your system. This will naturally free up lots of energy that was previously used to keep a lid on all the feelings.

Mindfulness is simple. Remember to breathe slowly and deeply. Step one, notice what you notice, notice how you feel, notice where you feel that feeling, breathe deeply and pay attention to how things change. Step two, keep practicing whenever you get the chance. Step three make this noticing a part of your daily practices.
