What is Plantar Fasciitis?
Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel and foot pain. It occurs when the band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, supporting the arch, becomes inflamed or irritated. This tissue works hard every day to absorb shock and support our body weight, so when it becomes strained, pain and stiffness can develop—often felt most strongly in the heel, especially first thing in the morning.
Common causes may include:
• Long periods of standing or walking
• Poor or unsupportive footwear
• Tight calf muscles or limited foot flexibility
• High or very flat arches
• Overuse from exercise or increased activity
• Weight changes that place extra pressure on the feet
How reflexology and foot massage can help:
Reflexology and targeted foot massage work to release tension in the muscles and fascia of the feet, improve circulation, and support the body’s natural healing process. Gentle pressure applied to reflex points and the surrounding tissues can help reduce tightness, ease discomfort, and promote relaxation throughout your body. Taking care of our feet is essential—they support us every step of the way. With regular treatments, stretching, supportive footwear, and self-care, we can help keep our feet healthy and pain free.
