We haven't got long.

Play with a calculator. Make an assumption about how long you will live and then assume how many of those years will be healthy years...years when you are fit and strong enough to travel overseas.

Take off the work days you still have left to fulfill.

And that's your best case scenario.

Anything could happen any time.

So the time and effort you put in now is future proofing yourself so you can do the things you want to in the time you have left.

So put the doughnut down fat boy and go for the run or the walk, life the weights, learn to dance or learnba martial art.

Your future self will thank you.

Love this.

I know I will never be great at Muay Thai.

No matter how good I get, there will always be people better, stronger, faster than me.

But despite my years, I am still improving every time I train. Very slightly but improving nevertheless.

Ageing, but still getting stronger, more flexible and fitter.

I am in the top 90th percentile of people my age for even training in something as brutal as Muay Thai.

We have one life. Don't spend it sitting on the couch wasting away.

The workouts I do today are investments in my future health. If you want to keep mobile, fit and strong you have to put the work in.

No-one is coming to save you.

Happy New year everyone.

I will be continuing to concentrate on consistency this year and upping the frequency.

I always follow a strict morning routine, generally in bed reading by 9 and up around 5.30 am every day. I never need to 'lie in' and always wake up refreshed and raring to go. And I have so much time.

I love my Muay Thai and when I'm off work I like to go to the morning classes as it sets up my day. I'm off for 6 weeks at the moment, so I go every day the classes are on, so six days a week (minus the public holidays).

I always walk at least 10 to 14k steps a day and we like to walk at the beach to ground.

I have 32 working days left ever when I return to work on January 29th.

After that I will train every day a class is on.

Financially, listening to my dad was well worth it. We've never wasted money or had flash cars and that compound interest now is paying huge dividends and allowing me to retire on my final salary forever comfortably.

A lot of people have I'm too young to retire but I disagree.

The early years of retirement are the ones when we will travel extensively whilst we are still fit and healthy.

I'd hate to work until I was in my 70's and then not be well enough to travel or die.

You cannot buy time.

So, be consistent. Wake up the same time every day. Eat well. Sleep well. Make the extra mortgage payments to get that loan paid off.

Never make excuses to miss your exercise class. You might not feel up to it but you'll walk out feeling amazing.

Read. Learn. Keep the brain active and keep up with technology. Then read some more.

We have but one life.

Go live it.

For everyone in Perth, Manning Road Farmers Market is also on this Christmas Eve!

We'll be there so will hopefully catch up with a few of you.

For the people we don't see, have a great Christmas!

Really looking forward to this.

I will be telling my story - working shifts in the police, poor diet, developing Crohns and living with it and the medications and the steroid weight gain and then turning my back on conventional medicine and healing.

I will talk about what I learnt, what to eat and avoid, how I lost the weight, put on muscle and healed.

I will also be talking about dealing with the monumental stress I dealt with in the Police and there will be some really funny true stories and some sad ones.

I also want to help prevent people from being victims. We will discuss strategies to make you more confident and less likely to be targeted.

This is a story about turning your life around that will appeal to anyone who's had a bump in the road.

Ok, heres my life hack for today.

Marry someone that, if you had no friends at all, you'd be happy to spend the rest of your life with.

That is all.

Have a great weekend.

Gary Benzies’ story starts with his childhood in England and takes you on a rollercoaster journey through the challenges of being a policeman in the early 90's and living with Crohn’s disease.

If you've ever had to ditch a duty gunbelt and run into a field with urgent diarrhea you will understand just some of his plight.

Now retired from the police, Gary retells his experiences—complete with the mishaps, setbacks and triumphs that shaped his path to a full recovery and better health and fitness now than he had in his 20's.

His storytelling is laced with a sharp sense of humour and possibly some bad language, likely honed over 32 years on the frontline in the UK and WA, and isn’t for the faint-hearted or the politically correct.

Some of the stories are harrowing but theres always that police humour not far away.
Through his book Flushed, he shares an honest, courageous and often hilarious perspective on overcoming chronic illness.

Gary also talks about avoiding being a victim in life, whether a victim of crime or a victim of the media or medical business lies.

He hopes you walk away buzzing, more confident and better educated about nutrition, avoiding toxins in your everyday lives and with a smile on your face.

Well, well, well. It's now been ten years since I changed my lifestyle and healed myself and lost over 30kg and easily kept it off.

We haven't done any events for some time either. The last one was the night before lockdown at Fremantle Town Hall with Pete Evans with 400 people! Were you there?

Anyway, a lot has happened since then!

I've been lucky enough to share a stage with some great people including Pete many times, cardiologist Aseem Malhotra, Helen Padarin, Cyndi O'Meara, Christine Cronau, Damon Gameau and many others.

So, save a date!

More details to be confirmed later but I will be doing a small intimate gig in Perth on Tuesday 16th December from 6.30 pm to 8.30pm.

I will be talking about how I overcame Crohns, lost weight, became a qualified Primal Health Coach, gave up alcohol, 32 years of being a police officer and dealing with trauma and how to be a survivor and never a victim of crime and my love for martial arts and how it keeps me fit, supple and healthy as I approach my 60th birthday!

At the end we'll do a Q&A session when I'll tell all about my low tox living, my diet and sleep and sun hygiene routines.

Everyone attending will get a signed copy of my book, Flushed.

Details of venue/tickets will be here very soon!

This is so true.

If we don't step forward we never move on.

As soon as you are comfortable turn up the heat.

Mel has been attending line dancing classes just for fun with a friend and she's really enjoying it amd has progressed really fast. Her mum used to love it and it's a kind of homage to her memory.
We won't mention how much she spent on hand-made cowboy boots in Venice airport though...

Anyway, the other day her group did a display at a local event and I went to watch.

The lady who runs it called for volunteers to come on stage and have a go.

I cannot dance, unless you count the punk pogo or jab, cross, hook.

Nevertheless I got up and gave two dances a red hot crack. It was fun.

I remember once I'd lost all the weight and got healthy post Crohns and walked into my Muay Thai gym for the first time. It was intimidating, all these ripped guys with their shirts off punching and kicking each other.

But to fully experience life you need to push your boundaries.

Now my gym feels like home.

So push yourself.

Learn a new recipe, read a book , learn a language, go for a hike, travel, try a new hobby or sport.

We are a long time dead and the clock is ticking.

Ok, I'm kinda venting.

One of my absolute pet hates are perfumes and colognes.

Initially designed hundreds of years ago when people didn't bathe and stank to hide their odour.

Nowadays most people have access to water and can wash themselves.

But the marketing people have struck gold with the stupidity of people, lining up to pay hundreds of dollars to buy the next bigwig perfume so they too can smell like Kim Kardashian.

Firstly, it's not attractive. It's usually overwhelming and makes me gag.

Secondly, there are absolutely no regulations about what s**t is in this stuff. Stuff people liberally spray all over their neck where the skin is at its thinnest, right next to their thyroid. And then everyone scratches their head when their hormones are up the creek and they feel like s**t.

I absolutely detest social occasions where expectations are that you greet people with a hug. That means whatever s**t they are covered in transfers to me.

I had this at an event recently and I smelt like a whore's drawers.

I honestly felt violated. It's like a dog pi***ng up me, marking their territory.

I also gave someone a lift and the car stank for absolutely weeks.
There are so many ways you can smell good without buying into the designer label hype.

We use natural self care products that are still scented with natural essential oils, that are subtle and don't contribute to illness.

If anyone wants to know what we use send me a message and I'll hit you up.

It's possible to be clean, fresh and smell nice without overpowering the room and harming yourself and others.

It's called Poison for a reason.

They are mocking your gullibility.
