Construction is now underway at Bethanie Fremantle, our newest community housing development. The project will deliver 50 apartments for over-55s and low-income tenants, supported by $60 million in combined State and Federal Government funding.
Bethanie Community Housing Interim CEO Lindsay O'Sullivan welcomed Hon Josh Wilson MP, Hon John Carey MLA, Hon Simone McGurk MLA, and City of Fremantle Mayor, Ben Lawver - Mayor of Fremantle, to celebrate this important milestone.
The development is supported by a $10.5 million State Government capital grant and the Infrastructure Development Fund, with $500,000 allocated to cover the upfront costs of connecting to utilities. In addition, $49.5 million in capital and operational funding has been provided through an $18.4 million Housing Australia Affordable Housing Bond Aggregator concessional loan, together with $31.1 million from the Housing Australia Future Fund.
Bethanie Fremantle demonstrates what can be achieved when governments and industry work together to deliver practical, long-term housing solutions for our community, ensuring accessibility and comfort for people at all stages of life. Located on Queen Victoria Street, with access to transport, healthcare and local services, it provides a fantastic location for older residents who want to live independently while staying connected.
With an estimated completion date in 2027, we’re proud to be delivering lasting, sustainable outcomes for people who need them most.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Bethanie! 🎅
Our clients got crafty at today’s Santa Workshop, creating button ornaments, festive collages and a stunning Christmas wreath.
With guidance from one of our amazing volunteers, and a little help from our student elves from TAFE and Trinity College, the room was filled with laughter, creativity and holiday cheer.

Tea and a chat with a W***y Wagtail 🐦
One of our Home Care clients enjoys a regular cuppa in her garden with her Bethanie Home Care Support Worker. It’s a moment to chat, connect, and welcome a tiny feathered friend to the tea party.
Like clockwork, our client’s garden companion, W***y Wagtail, swoops in to say hello and snack on a few live mealworms. A peaceful ritual, and the kind of connection that makes everyone feel at home.

A Peaceful Day by the Water 🎣🌊
Our residents from Bethanie Fields went out to Collie Bridge for a day of fishing, accompanied by some of our Therapy team and Chaplains. While the fish weren’t biting (except for one cheeky blowfish), the laughter, stories and shared moments made it a catch of a day.
And yes – there was ice cream on the way home. 🍦
