Happy 50th, Rob!

We asked a couple of people about Rob in honour of his 50th celebration:

Let’s wish Rob a happy birthday 🧡

“Your capacity to listen, to stay curious and to meet me where I am always with love has been everything. Your intellect and rigour. The sense of safety I feel with you. You’re also hilarious. Yoga Space would not be here still without you.”
- Jean

“I feel blessed for having the opportunity to meet you and to grow at YS through your teachings and for the space. People like you are important in this world 😊🙏 thank you for all the teachings. Enjoy your time and have a great brand new year ahead 😄✨ 🍀”
- Eva

“As both a yoga student and someone who has worked alongside Rob, I’ve experienced his genuinely kind and thoughtful presence in many ways. He has a calm, approachable nature that makes you feel supported and at ease, whether you’re in class or learning from him more closely.

His gentle guidance encourages curiosity rather than pressure, and he has a unique way of inviting enquiry that helps you grow with confidence.

As a mentor, he leads with patience, care, and quiet wisdom, creating an environment where people feel valued and inspired.”
- Kerry

Our great, great ancestors would look at our calendars and laugh. 🤭

We used to walk for miles to find food and shelter. All we had to worry about was surviving and adapting to nature.

Now it’s meetings, food shopping, driving and a LOT of sitting down.

But are we resting? No. Our brains are constantly go, go, go. 🧠

How often do you do nothing?
No moving. No thinking.
Just being… like sitting in a cave, sheltered from the elements.

The truth is, rest isn’t something that just happens anymore.
It’s something we have to practice. 🧘

And that’s what this class is.
A space where you don’t have to perform, achieve, or figure anything out.

Through gentle restorative shapes and guided Yoga Nidra, your body is supported to soften. 🧡

You might not even realise how tired you are until you stop.

So come and do nothing with us!

I’m teaching Saturday ✨
We are talking about sadhana and mine has changed so much.

The journey over the past 15 months has been humbling.

My life suddenly took a very different direction.

I have had to navigate what this means for my practice and teaching.

So this weekend, let’s explore together. No matter where you are at in practice I welcome you to explore with me. Of course, I can’t do what I once did.

I will cover for with ‘s help.

I would love to see you for Intuitive Vinyasa 8 am. No expectations.

What does Sādhanā mean to me? 🧡

Showing up to myself. Disciplined dedication to staying true to my practice that is aligned to loving kindness to all, including to myself, in thought, words and action.

Why is Sādhanā important?

It proves that practising what you preach holds weight in the ability to trust yourself.

When we foster building healthy habits with routines that build a sense of belonging to a practice, a community and to our homecoming within ourselves.

It has the capacity to build foundations for safety, within. For some, this feeling can be fleeting or uncomfortable.

Sādhanā in the Yogic texts refers to a pathway towards self or spiritual realisation or liberation. Which I think is important to understand the self through dedicated practice, like yoga.

What does Sādhanā mean to me? 🧡

Honestly? For a long time, it was something I resisted. My brain is wired to push back against the things that are good for me... a mix of neurodiversity and a nervous system that spent a lot of time dysregulated.

I spent years completely out of my body. It’s been a 20-year journey of stops and starts.

Between raising four children, work, and cycles of burnout, my practice has had to evolve. I used to try to push through the Primary Series, but my body protested and I’m learning to actually listen! 🥰

Now, I’ve found my home in the Active Series. There’s something so regulating about the repetition; I don’t have to think, I just move. Sādhanā is no longer a chore or a “should.” It’s a gift. It’s the tool that helps me manage lifelong insomnia and navigate the intensity of being a mature-age psychology student.

Too inflexible for yoga?

That’s like saying you’re too unfit to start exercising. It makes no sense 🤷‍♀️

But we get it… starting something new can feel intimidating. You might worry about walking into a room where everyone seems to know what they’re doing.

That’s exactly why we created this course. 🧡

Our 6-week Beginners Yoga course introduces the foundations of yoga in a supportive environment. You’ll learn about alignment, functional movement, and yogic breathing techniques — skills that translate across many yoga styles.

Each week gently builds on the last, with small group sizes so our teachers can offer individualised guidance.

You don’t need to touch your toes.
You don’t need fancy gear.
You just need curiosity and a willingness to begin.

You might find more ease in your body.
You might breathe a little deeper.
You might even discover that elusive inner calm.

Either way… start here.
