We recently shared 5 simple, free ways to brighten someone’s day — and we’d love to know:

Have you tried one yet?

Maybe you checked in on a neighbour, picked up some litter on a walk, or left a kind review for a local business.

If you haven’t had the chance, today is the perfect moment to give one a go. Small gestures can lift someone else’s mood and boost your own wellbeing.

Feel free to share your ROK below and let’s inspire each other to spread a little more kindness in our communities 💜

Today marks the anniversary of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s 2008 National Apology to the Stolen Generations.

This day stands as a powerful reminder of the injustices endured by Indigenous Australians, and it continues to call us toward reconciliation, understanding, and healing.

South Coastal Health & Community Services pay tribute to the strength and resilience of the Stolen Generations, reaffirming our dedication to reconciliation and to building a future where every person is valued, respected, and empowered. 🖤💛❤️

National Condom Day — the other big event on February 14.

At SHQ, we believe everyone deserves access to s*xual health information so we can all enjoy healthier relationships and safer, consensual, pleasurable s*x.

Condoms have been around longer than electricity. Ancient Egyptians used linen, Romans used animal intestines, and by the 1800s people were washing and reusing rubber ones. Thankfully, today we have single use condoms that come in a variety of sizes, textures, colours and flavours - and are available for free at South Coastal Rockingham and SHQ Northbridge.

They’re not a barrier to fun. They’re a boost to it.

Join us: start conversations, share knowledge, and help make safer s*x something we can all talk about confidently.

For many of us, the internet is a lifeline — a place to work, connect, learn, and seek support. But it can also be a space where online abuse, manipulation, and privacy risks show up in subtle and harmful ways.

To build awareness and confidence about your own digital safety, or to support children in your care to develop crucial skills, check out the awesome resources from the eSafety Commissioner .

From recognising red flags to strengthening privacy settings, small steps can make a big difference in protecting your wellbeing online.

We’ve had an amazing response to our Term 1 Emotional Health and Wellbeing group — all spots are now filled.

The good news is our Term 2 program is already locked in. We are running the Healing After Trauma group - visit our website to check if it feels right for you. Referrals aren’t open just yet, but they’ll be available soon, so keep an eye out.

We can’t wait to welcome the women joining us next week as we begin this journey together.

📣5 acts of kindness that can have a lasting impact (FOR FREE):

1️⃣ Check in on someone who might be isolated — a regular message or chat can reduce loneliness long-term.
2️⃣ Offer your skills or time — help a neighbour with some gardening or a home DIY project.
3️⃣ Show someone you truly appreciate them - write a thank-you note for someone or leave a kind review for a small business you love.
4️⃣ Pick up litter in your local area — a cleaner space boosts pride, wellbeing, and community care - get the kids involved!
5️⃣ Hold the door for someone or let a person go ahead of you in a queue.

Small actions. Big impact. 💛

Feel Good Feb 💛

What is one of the most simple ways to boost your own mental health? Doing good for others.

Acts of kindness release feel-good chemicals in the brain increasing mood, reducing stress, and building a stronger snese of connection.

Even small, thoughtful actions can create a ripple effect — improving not just someone else’s day, but our own mental health too.

Random acts of kindness don’t have to be big or costly to make a difference.

Kids going back to school?

Lets take a moment to chek in with how YOU are feeling?

Rested, flat, or burnt out after the school holidays?

Between organising uniforms, lunches, drop-offs, work and everything else, it’s easy to forget about YOU.

But when you are supported, your family benefits too. 💪

Our quick tips to ease the stress:

🗓️ Plan ahead where you can.
☕ Take moments to recharge — a walk, some calming music, a cup of your fave hot drink.
👩‍👧‍👦 You are not alone — share the load with family or friends.
💖 Be kind to yourself — you’re doing your best, and that’s enough.

If things are feeling heavy, reaching out for support isn’t a weakness — it’s strength.

Your wellbeing helps your whole family thrive. ❤️

Kids are going back to school soon - How are they feeling?

Getting back into a routine after a long break can be a challenge— kids may feel anxious about new teachers, making friends, harder work, or earlier mornings.

To support them try:

✨ Open conversations — let them tell you how they feel, and reassure them it’s normal to be nervous.
✨ Easing back into routines early — earlier bedtimes and wake-ups help body and mind adjust slowly.
✨ Celebrate the small wins — like the first day back or remembering their PE kit.

It’s normal for kids to feel mixed emotions — what matters is your support!
