📚✨ It’s that time of year again — time to thank the legends who put up with our kids all year long!

This year we’ve got these cute “Teacher Fuel” pockets — perfect size for a standard chocolate bar or a little bag of lollies. 🍫🍬

💍 When a bride asks, you don’t say no!

This one nearly gave us a few grey hairs 😅 A lovely bride asked if we could stitch initials hers snd her future husband onto her wedding veil. Sounds easy, right? Yeah… nah. There’s a reason you don’t usually see embroidery machines and delicate tulle in the same sentence! One wrong move and — poof — you’ve got a hole instead of a “H”.

We love a good challenge though, so we gave it a crack! Before touching the actual veil, we did a few test runs to make sure everything behaved itself — tension, needle, stabiliser, the lot. Once it all lined up beautifully, we held our breath and went for it!

It might look simple, but there’s a fair few steps behind the magic:
✨ Designing the initials on the computer
📏 Getting the size just right so it doesn’t pull the fabric
🧵 Adjusting stitch density for that soft, delicate look
🪡 Doing multiple test runs on sample fabric before the real deal
👀 Watching it like a hawk while it stitched — no blinking allowed
✂️ Once the stitching was done, gently cutting off the stabiliser from the front and back (hands were definitely shaking!)
🫧 Then a gentle hand wash to remove the remaining stabiliser — twice, just to be sure there were no sticky bits left. We definitely didn’t want the bride sticking to anything on her big day!

Worth every bit of stress though — because nothing beats seeing something that special come to life 💕

Everyone’s got those bad days — even our embroidery machine!
After a little argument (and some choice words 😅), she still wasn’t having it.

So this reading cushion cover ended up with a few cosmetic faults, but it’s fully usable and still super cute! 💙

Why we don’t use licensed fabric

So many times we’ve been asked for licensed fabric — and when I say no, people just can’t understand why! So I thought I’d explain 😊

Licensed fabrics feature copyrighted or trademarked characters and logos (like Disney, Bluey, AFL, Harry Potter, cartoons character etc.). These designs are protected by law, and while the fabric companies have permission to print them, that permission doesn’t extend to selling finished items made from them.

That means we can use them for personal or gift projects, but not for resale. To sell products made from licensed designs, you’d need special approval or a commercial licence — which small makers usually can’t get.

So, even though we’d love to sew all the fun characters, we stick to beautiful, unique fabrics that are safe to sell and keep us on the right side of copyright rules 💕

THIS RULES APPLIES TO ALL LICENSED EMBROIDERY DESIGNS IS WELL (Disney, Harry Potter, car brands, Logos ...)
