On 31 March 1921, the Royal Australian Air Force was formed — marking the beginning of more than a century of service.

Today, as we acknowledge this important anniversary, we’re proud to celebrate not only the history of the RAAF, but the remarkable people who have shaped it.

Photographed is RAAFA resident Ted McEvoy who served during the Vietnam War and worked on the iconic Mirage aircraft. In a fitting twist of fate, Ted now calls Mirage Terraces at Air Force Memorial Estate home — a special reminder of his service and the aircraft he once helped keep in the skies.

This RAAF Anniversary, we honour Ted and all those who have served under the Air Force crest. Thank you for your service.

Residents at Meadow Springs, Erskine Grove and Air Force Memorial Estate recently participated in engaging Cyber Security Awareness workshops designed to help them stay safe from online scams and fraud.

Across the sessions, more than 120 residents learned how to recognise suspicious emails, texts and phone calls, protect their personal and financial information, and understand what steps to take if they are targeted.

More sessions will be held across other Estates — stay tuned and stay cyber safe!

After 39 years together, Carol and Bud recently renewed their wedding vows at Merriwa Estate.

When Alzheimer’s began affecting Bud’s memory, the couple wanted to reaffirm their commitment while they could fully appreciate the moment. Surrounded by friends and family at Karri & Tuart Lodge, they shared a beautiful ceremony, with Bud proudly wearing the original t-shirt from their first wedding 23 years ago.

Recently, we recognised several staff members across our estates for their dedication and years of service.

At McNamara Lodge, congratulations to Jo, Leona and Angela on their long service awards. A special shout out also to Suzanne, who received a Staff Appreciation Award.

Over at Merriwa Estate, the team celebrated Kylie’s 10-year milestone with a morning tea and presentation in recognition of her incredible contribution to the estate.

Thank you all for the genuine care and commitment you bring to RAAFA and our residents every day.

The Women in the Royal Australian Air Force (WRAAF) held their 75th Anniversary at RAAFA's Air Force Memorial Estate in Bull Creek, WA. The WRAAF started in 1951 and was a fully recognized branch of the permanent Air Force, marking a significant step toward the long-term inclusion of women in Australia’s armed forces. Today, women represent over 27% of the RAAF.

This celebration was a special opportunity to honour the service and contribution of these remarkable women.
