Today we honour and pay respect to the courageous Canadians who have served our country, those who continue to serve, and those who selflessly gave their lives. We remember their sacrifice and the enduring legacy of their courage.

Lest we forget.

PSA (Nov 7, 2025): Renovations in the Chatham Site Emergency Department (ED) triage area will begin next Monday, November 10. These renovations will increase privacy in the ED triage area. Minimal disruptions to patient care are expected other than potential slight delays. Thank you for your patience as we work to improve patient care at CKHA.

We kindly remind the community that our Emergency Departments are here for urgent and emergency care needs.

Critically ill patients will remain the priority. Patients attending the Emergency Department at CKHA for non-emergency ailments could experience longer wait times than usual.

Please seek care for non-emergency needs in community settings where possible, such as your family physician or local walk-in medical clinic to help alleviate the strain on our Emergency Departments.

In Chatham-Kent, there are several options for walk-in clinic services. Click here for more information: https://www.chatham-kent.ca/livingck/livinginck/healthandwellness/Pages/Walk-in-Clinics.aspx

We thank our patients and families for their patience during this time.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of hosting 16 grade 9 students for Take Your Kid to Work Day! πŸŽ“

The students heard engaging presentations from our Senior Leadership, HR, and Mental Health and Addictions teams, and got hands-on experience with clinical nursing skill stations.

Thank you to the Chatham-Kent Nursing Society and CKHA's Organizational Development and Communications departments for organizing this special day! ❀️

🌟Earlier this month, several of our incredible volunteers were recognized at the Ontario Volunteer Service Awards. This annual provincial program honours volunteers for their continuous service to organizations across Ontario β€” and we’re so proud to see our CKHA team members among them! πŸ’™

Recognized this year were:
πŸ‘ Cory Greenwood
πŸ‘ Jo An Anderson
πŸ‘ Pete Foley
πŸ‘ Mary Foley
πŸ‘ Dave Robertson (unable to attend)
πŸ‘ Helga Stanley (unable to attend)

A special shoutout to Jo An, who recently turned 90 years young and was recognized for an incredible 30 years of service β€” now 32 and counting! Jo An and Cory volunteer together at the front desk every Thursday night. Pete and Mary also share their time at the Information Desk; Pete began volunteering first and inspired Mary to join five years later.

πŸ’« Thank you to each of our volunteers for giving your time, your energy, and your heart to CKHA. You truly make a difference.

🎨 Earlier this year, we put out a call for local artists to design a mural for the Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence (SADV) Program room.

All submissions were carefully reviewed by a committee that included patient advisors, representatives from Facilities, the Emergency Department, and the SADV team lead. From there, the final three designs were shared with women at the local women’s shelter β€” individuals with lived experience β€” who selected the final piece. πŸ’œ

We’re excited to introduce Miranda Andrews (.andrews.art), a local artist whose design was chosen to bring warmth, healing and hope to this important space.

We recently met with Miranda to begin the creative process β€” stay tuned to see the final piece come to life! 🌿✨

What a day for Women's Health! πŸ’–

This past Saturday, CKHA hosted our annual Education Day - diving into important topics in women's health including menopause, fertility, urinary incontinence, and pelvic floor health.

✨ A huge thank you to our organizing committee - Dr. Elyse Epp, Dr. Faith Moore, Dr. Susan Munro, Dr. Jessica Smith, and Dr. Lindsey Sutherland - for their leadership and dedication. ✨ Their efforts brought together an outstanding lineup of speakers from London, CKHA's own Dr. Fernanda Berto, and Chatham's Peach Physiotherapy & Wellness Centre

Nearly 50 healthcare professionals attended - including physicians, nurses and allied health staff - coming together to deepen their knowledge and strengthen care for women in our community.

Continuous learning like this reflects CKHA's commitment to Our Focus is YOU - empowering our team with the knowledge and tools to deliver compassionate, high-quality care that puts our patients and community at the centre of everything we do.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success! πŸ’ͺ
