Chatham-Kent Hospice

Chatham-Kent Hospice Our mission is to provide care that changes how families live the important experiences near the end of life. Welcome

Welcome to Chatham-Kent Hospice!

At Chatham-Kent Hospice we are here to help families make the most of the time they have together. We are honoured to serve our residents and their families at the most difficult time in their life. We believe that hospice is not about dying – it is about living. Our focus is to help our residents live each day with dignity and honour by providing compassionate, end-of-life care in a home-like setting. Our residential hospice offers 10 private suites designed to perform like a hospital but feel like home. Additional spaces in the hospice include bereavement support area, resource library and meeting rooms. The overall design allows us the flexibility to grow and play a role in developing a centre of learning for healthcare providers and the families of Chatham-Kent. The Chatham-Kent Hospice will:
• support residents as they deal with end-of-life challenges
• offer a loving and supportive atmosphere so family and friends can say good-bye
• deliver specialized care from compassionate staff and volunteers
• provide comprehensive, coordinated hospice care for everyone at no cost
• make available grief counseling and other forms of therapy

The Friends of Chatham Gathering continues to show the true power of community—bringing people together not just to reconnect, but to make a meaningful difference. What started as a heartfelt way to celebrate friendship has grown into something truly special, with packed events and overwhelming support for Chatham-Kent Hospice.

This year, you’ve taken that impact even further—raising over $18,000! 💙

Congratulations and thank you to Dave Carey, Mike Dorner, Ray O’Phee and everyone involved in making this another huge success. Here’s to continuing the tradition and making an even bigger impact next year! 🎉

We are pleased to share Dr. Jim Wheeler as the new Medical Director of Chatham-Kent Hospice.

Dr. Wheeler works in the Oncology-Chemotherapy Unit at CKHA and has a family practice at Thamesview Family Health Team where he recently served as Lead Physician for 6 years. He has been a Core Physician at Hospice since we opened in April 2016.

“I deeply value the role Chatham-Kent Hospice plays in our health care system and community. I am pleased to support a team that brings comfort and peace to residents and families every day,” said Dr. Wheeler.
