Today, on National Grief & Bereavement Day, let’s begin to close Canada’s grief literacy gap — together.

Talking about death, loss, or grief can feel awkward, and grief is often misunderstood — both by those experiencing it and by those trying to help. Everyone will face loss at some point, yet few of us are prepared for how long it can last, how deeply it can affect us, or how it can change our lives and the lives of those we love.

When personal connection matters most, many who are grieving feel alone, misunderstood, or unsupported. Even well-meaning friends and family can struggle to provide comfort in ways that are most helpful.

You are not alone. COHA offers compassionate, no-cost grief and bereavement support for anyone who needs it. Learn more and reach out at hospicecoha.org

The Power of Giving ×2 is here!

Until February 2026, your donation to COHA will be matched — dollar-for-dollar — up to $110,000 by our donor, Roger Gale.

Roger has come full circle – from client to donor to volunteer. He wants others to receive the same comfort and care he once did.

That means double the care, double the comfort, and double the hope for those facing end-of-life and grief.

Give today and help us reach our goal!

On Remembrance Day, we stand united in reflection to remember those who gave their lives in service, and to honour the ones who continue to fight for freedom—carrying their courage, compassion, and hope into the future.

As we pause to remember, the Central Okanagan Hospice Association offices will be closed today in observance of Remembrance Day.

Let us take this day to honour the bravery and sacrifice of all who have served—and to reflect on the peace, dignity, and compassion they have helped preserve.

COHA and FH&P Lawyers are coming together this November for two free community events designed to ease life’s most difficult conversations.

On November 6th, join us for Wine, Wills & Wisdom — a relaxed evening with wine, mocktails, and appetizers while exploring the importance of wills, advance care planning, and the legal documents that help protect you and your loved ones.

On November 20th, come back for Legacy Lounge: Ask Me Anything. In a comfortable lounge setting, you’ll have the chance to sit down with estate lawyers, healthcare professionals, and a financial advisor for short conversations about your personal questions, charitable giving, and legacy planning.

Both events run 4–6 PM at FH&P Lawyers’ new Kelowna office, Landmark 4. Together, we can start the conversations that bring peace of mind for the future.

Space is limited, so please register early: https://bit.ly/4ofhs2k

🌟 Today is Non-Profit Recognition Day! 🌟

Across BC, non-profit organizations are the heart of our communities — bringing care, compassion, and connection to life every day.

At the Central Okanagan Hospice Association (COHA), we’re proud to be part of this incredible sector and deeply grateful to everyone who makes our work possible — our volunteers, donors, supporters, partners, members, and the individuals and families we’re honoured to support.

Your dedication and kindness help us provide comfort, dignity, and compassionate care when it’s needed most. 🦋

Thank you for standing with us — today and every day.
