UBC Okanagan Disability Resource Centre

UBC Okanagan Disability Resource Centre The Disability Resource Centre exists as a resource to ensure educational equity oc We Are Here To Help!

The Disability Resource Centre (DRC) works with UBC's Okanagan campus community to eliminate structural and attitudinal barriers to those with disabilities. The DRC provides disability-related services and academic accommodations to students, staff and faculty with documented disabilities. Services provided to students are in keeping with the University’s Academic Policy for Students with Disabilities (Policy 73). The purpose of an accommodation is to allow students to overcome disability-related challenges that impede their academic success. The DRC assists students by offering programs and advocacy services to foster an accessible and welcoming campus.

“On Cerebral Palsy Day, I want to stress the importance of avoiding assumptions. I want to remind people of the diversity of experiences across the disability community. Regardless of our disabilities, our personal experiences will vary due to many factors like race, socio-economic status, and gender identity. Because Cerebral Palsy affects people so differently, it’s vital to not assume we understand someone’s experience simply because we know another individual with cerebral palsy.”
