The legalization of recreational cannabis marks a significant transition for Canadian society but while the industry is controversial, we also need to remember that this category has spurred innovation, entrepreneurship, and jobs. What is certain is that legalization will open the doors to a dynamic, sophisticated industry that will create new jobs, new opportunities for businesses, and new revenues for government. And executed well, legalization will also help shift a considerable proportion of cannabis consumption to legal channels in the years to come!

Remember this day! October 17th 2018 marks a day in Canadian history being the first G7 country to legalize cannabis nationwide🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 A society in transition, an industry poised for growth
The legalization of recreational cannabis will mark an important change in Canadian society. In time, we expect legalization will legitimize consumption and diminish the stigma that surrounds it today. After
all, we’ve been here before—and we’ve shown that we have the maturity to develop strong, thriving industries based on tightly regulated, controlled substances such as beer, wine, and spirits. It
was not all that long ago that these were regarded in a vastly different light. In our view, cannabis will prove little different. Recreational consumption will eventually become normalized and mainstream, eliciting about as much reaction as having a pint of craft beer.

Our Story

BeKind opened in spring of 2009 and for nearly 10 years served 18,500 members in the Okanagan and surrounding communities by advocating for the safe use and access to cannabis. In July of 2018, we closed our doors in what they believed to be cooperation with the City of Kelowna, anticipating being licensed to open again in 2019 under new regulations. The City of Kelowna decided to create a process that would not allow former dispensaries any chance at reopening and instead granted licenses to new applicants only. As pioneers in the industry, we feel the government has once again failed it's people in favour of big business. To our members, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and thank you all for your years of support!
