Kayak safety - be aware of hypothermia conditions. If the water where you’re paddling is less than 20C, the best choice is to wear a wetsuit or dry suit. Dress for submersion, not for style.

Risks of capsizing in cool or cold-water, symptoms begin with immediate cooling, stiffened muscles, reduced physical strength, hypothermia, shock, all leading to drowning, Paddle with a friend, who can rescue and provide First Aid.

The topic of hypothermia, causes and treatments, are included in of a Standard First Course. Call today to reserve your spot.

Summer Fun in the Water!

People are enjoying the pool, out at the lake, and in the water trying to stay cool during the hot months.

Don’t assume everyone knows how to swim. Even the best swimmers can get into trouble in lakes, wave pools, strong currents and all are at risk of drowning.

When friends, family or others who are in the water, keep an eye on them. If you come across someone drowning (and they are unconscious), CPR could save their life. Sign up for a First Aid course and keep everyone safe.
