Proud to support community-driven initiatives and creative projects like Ottawa 200 as we prepare to celebrate together Bytownâs 200th.
I met with Malick Diallo, a neighbour here in OrlĂ©ans EastâCumberland, and I walked away genuinely impressed.
Malick is the founder of the Canadian Digital Heritage Society, a new non-profit focused on preserving Canadaâs digital heritage through visual and audio documentation. One of their flagship initiatives is the Ottawa 200 Project, a growing digital time capsule that is capturing Ottawaâs communities, landmarks, and stories as we look ahead to the cityâs 200th anniversary.
He is also an advanced drone operator, and he brought one of his drones in to show James and me. Lightweight, smart, and already being put to work as part of this project. It was a cool reminder of how quickly technology is evolving, and how it can be used to tell our local story in a meaningful way.
