The CDA has officially submitted our 2026–2027 Pre-Budget Submission to the federal government.

Our recommendations focus on closing the dermatology gap by increasing the number of trained dermatologists, supporting team-based care, and advancing innovation—including AI—to improve access for Canadians, especially in rural and remote communities.

Can we really trust our sunscreen? ☀️

CDA Member and certified dermatologist Dr. Ivan Litvinov was recently in a Radio-Canada segment on La Facture, where he discusses the “sunscreen paradox’ and how sunscreen can sometimes create a false sense of protection.

He shares why it's important not to rely solely on sunscreen and to think about sun safety holistically – like seeking shade, wearing protective clothing, and being mindful of time in the sun.

CDA Member and certified dermatologist Dr. Elena Netchiporouk is featured in a recent study highlighting a promising new use for botulinum toxin (Botox) in treating severe finger ulcers and gangrene associated with autoimmune diseases.

“These new findings are particularly important because therapeutic options remain limited for the cutaneous and vascular manifestations of systemic sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases,” says Dr. Netchiporouk.

This work marks an important step forward in improving care for patients with complex vascular skin conditions.
