February 28 marks Rare Disease Day.

Brigitte had always considered herself healthy and active, until sudden swelling and skin tightening changed everything. After months of hospital visits and uncertainty, she was diagnosed with pansclerotic morphea, an extremely rare autoimmune condition affecting the skin and deeper tissues.

Connecting with a dermatologist specializing in rare inflammatory diseases became a turning point. Through expert care, ongoing support, and a complex treatment journey, Brigitte was able to regain stability.

Dermatologists play a vital role in recognizing rare conditions, providing answers, and supporting patients like Brigitte through some of their most challenging moments.

Today is , a global moment to raise awareness of cancer and the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment.

Dermatologists diagnose and treat more than 3,000 conditions, many of which are life-altering or life-threatening. This includes melanoma, one of the fastest-growing cancers in Canada. Yet across the country, just over 800 certified dermatologists are caring for a population of more than 40 million.

Access to timely dermatology care matters.
