LWhen you start to put the pieces together, it makes a lot more sense!
I’m Dr. Sadie, a wholistic chiropractor in Ottawa, determined to help people heal pain with the body by healing the nervous system 🫶🏽
This Thursday I am going to go over in depth how hypermobility affects your health & what you can do about it!
You are one complete being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Leading my practice with Indigenous principles has unlocked deeper understanding for me and my patients.
So let’s connect the dots 👏🏽
Firstly, what is hypermobility? 🤸♀️ It is a disorder that exists on a spectrum, where joints glide past their usual range, whether in a few spots or the whole body. (More on this in the talk!)
Proprioceptive confusion 🫠 too much movement sends mixed signals to the brain about where you are in space, clumsiness and those “d’oh!” moments
Bruising easily 💜 fragile capillaries might be connected to a soft tissue disorder if seen with hypermobility
Muscle tightness 😬 frustrating bc you’d think they’d be relaxed, but it’s not uncommon for the deep stabilizer muscles to work harder
Slouched posture 🦐 the body works harder against the inherit instability, the spine collapses into a hunched shape, resting on the bones
Leaning on one hip 🦩 connected to poor proprioception, your posture muscles fatigue & you shift, relying on the leg bones to support you
Clicky joints 👀 with the combo of lax ligaments & tight tendons, your soft tissue or joint capsules can even produce audible pops on normal movement
Low energy constant micro‑adjustments drain the nervous system
Flat feet 🐾 hypermobile foot joints make it hard to resist constant joint stress
Light‑headedness 😮💨 connected to circulation
Crossing your legs habit ❌ now this one is interesting… the body is seeking stability by locking joints & applying pressure which feels soothing!
Your nervous system is a MASTER adapter 🙌🏽 it’s now a matter of helping to readapt a more stable body 🥹
If any of these feel familiar, you’re not alone.
