🎉FAQ TIME🎉

Swipe to see some of our most frequently asked questions from our patients, and see below for our answers😄

A1: No, we do not require a doctors referral to book a physio appointment, however your insurance might require one in order to cover to cost of your appointment. *Note: you never need a prescription to see a chiropractor.

A2: Yes! Pre-operative care and programming plays a critical role in post operative recovery (both the speed and quality of the recovery).

A3: While urinary leakage is common, it isn’t normal and it’s a sign that your pelvic floor might not be functioning properly. One of our pelvic floor physios can help!

A4: We do everything possible to ensure a seamless booking/billing process. That does include online booking, access to invoices, and direct billing to most insurance companies. Feel free to give us a call to inquire!

Have any other questions? Shoot us a dm, we’d love to chat🙃

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) is a form of therapy used to create shockwaves (sound waves) within a targeted tissue or therapeutic zone.

Shockwave is used to increase immune function, metabolism, and cellular repair of injured tissue. It can help reduce pain via disrupting nociceptive activity being sent to the central nervous system and in stimulating endorphin release💪

It can also be used to break a nervous system reflex loop that could be holding muscle in spasm or in high tone😳

Shockwave can be used to treat many different things:

➡️Tendon/ligament injuries (tennis/golfers elbow, ITBFS, jumper’s knee, Achilles tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, calcific tendinitis),

➡️Myofascial trigger points

➡️Bursitis

➡️Shin Splints

If you have any questions about shockwave therapy or would like to book an appointment, call us at either location or send us a DM📩

Rushali, Sara and Heather are rocking their compression leggings💃

Did you know, compression garments can are available in the form of leggings, stockings, shorts, shirts, and sleeves? They are also covered by most major insurance companies🥳

Compression garments have many benefits including…

➡️ Reduced achy/swollen legs (typical with sitting or standing for long periods in the day)

➡️ Improved recovery after a workout by improving circulation and removing lactic acid

➡️ Reduced risk of muscle injury during exercise/activity by reducing muscle vibration

➡️ Faster healing time after surgery - less post op swelling and faster scar healing.

Check out our compression stand at our Barrhaven location or ask the front desk at either location for more details😃

Your daily reminder to CARE FIRST❤️

In these challenging times, it's important to remember to care FIRST. Most of the time, we don't know what people are going through and something as simple as a compliment, small gesture or smile (even if it's with your eyes through your mask) can make someone's day😌

What's one way you can brighten someone's day today?

Just in time for racing season, here's some race recovery advice from our running specialist and physiotherapist 🏃🏼‍♀️

These tips are based on recent recovery research on what you should do next:

👉🏼 Take a little break from running!
The time varies from person to person. It largely depends on how far you ran and on how you're feeling. This little break can be anywhere from 2 days to 2 weeks. But listen to your body! If you feel sluggish and fatigued it's probably best to wait a while longer. Start with easy runs first before adding speed back in.

👉🏼 Avoid ice and anti-inflammatories!
If you have muscle soreness or even an overuse injury from your recent race, you don't want to try to shut down your inflammation. This is how your body heals! It's there for a reason. It may feel good in the moment but you are actually delaying your recovery in the long run.

👉🏼 Get a massage if this is something that's helped you recover in the past but wait AT LEAST 48 hours after your event!
Your muscles are beat up and inflammed following a hard race. The last thing you need is someone driving hands and elbows in to them to irritate them even more! After 2-3 days it can be very beneficial to your recovery.

👉🏼 Focus on getting a good night sleep.
Recommended sleep is between 7-9 hours but after hard bouts of exercise you want to aim for 9 if possible! It will optimize your recovery and make you feel better faster.

👉🏼 Focus on a healthy well balanced diet.
I'm not a nutritionist! So I'm just going to leave this 5th point here. If you're not sure what a diet looks like that promotes healing and recovery I would suggest finding a dietician or nutritionist that specializes with runners!
