Hi Everyone,
Now is the time my family truly needs your help! With the latest bloodwork showing my remaining kidney function at 7% - a kidney transplant is required urgently.

It is difficult to ask but now in severe kidney failure range I have no choice but to reach out and ask if you could be the one who will be our kidney donor saving angel! It is truly the 'Gift of Life' and the greatest thing one can do to help another. I know it is a lot to ask but please remember God gave us two kidneys and you really only need one to live a perfectly normal, healthy life - with your spare you have the ability to save another life!

So please reach deep into your heart and ask yourself if you could be the one who rises to the challenge and allows us to realize the wonderful future that awaits with your help. You will be forever in our hearts, minds, (and body) with the greatest of thanks and appreciation.
As a start, consider contacting the Ottawa (where we live) Hospital Living Kidney Donor Program at 613 738-8400 Ext. 82719 to learn more - they can answer all of your questions regarding donation. Mention you wish to help David Lafleche as they handle my case and so can provide the best guidance. It describes the challenges I faced right from College and through my life with Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD).

It's a page or two long but I think for anyone considering to be a kidney donor and give the "Gift of Life" it is good to know your intended recipient as well as possible. It really is worth the read to understand much about my path in life!

AGE REQUIREMENT FOR KIDNEY DONATION!

Hi Folks, one of the questions I receive regarding kidney donation is if there is an age limit for prospective donors. An excellent question and the answer is that there really isn't a limit per say but more a question of the donors overall health. Donors in good health have been accepted in their late seventies as noted by the Kidney Foundation of Canada. So if you are considering giving the 'Gift of Life' being at a more mature stage of life is not necessarily a show stopper!

Hi Everyone,
Thought this would be a good time to mention about the 'Paired Exchange' program we have here in Canada for kidney donors that may not be compatible with the intended recipient - a very exciting program that makes anyone eligible to donate regardless of blood type!

Basically if someone is considering being my donor but are not a match by blood type or other reason then you can still donate a kidney and it can go into the paired exchange program! This means that instead of me directly receiving your kidney it could go to another recipient and then I can then get a matching kidney from the paired exchange - it's really kind of like a pool of kidneys if you will where the transplant team works to ensure donated kidneys in the exchange go to the best matching recipient.

Its a fantastic system that greatly increases the ability for anyone to be a donor regardless of blood type and ensure the person they want to help still gets a matching kidney!!! So if you are considering being my donor but don't have type A+ (my blood type) or O (universal donor) that is not a show stopper and we can still make your incredible gift work!

Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to say thank you for the great attention you have given so far to my kidney campaign - so many have already noticed, read, and responded to the campaign with shares and likes and it has only just begun! Please keep up the good work with sharing, liking, and passing along the campaign information to friends and family - every extra person who is aware of my campaign is one step closer to success in finding a donor!

I must admit being in need of a kidney transplant in the near future can feel like a challenging prospect to find a donor but you have given me great hope and confidence that together we will find that special person who has a heart of gold in willing to be my donor!

Thanks again and I'll keep you posted on news as the campaign progresses. I know for our future - The Best is Yet to Come!😀
