📣 ICYMI: Dr. David Birnie spoke with the Ottawa Citizen about new OCEAN trial findings suggesting that many people treated for atrial fibrillation with a successful catheter ablation may no longer need to stay on blood thinners for life — a major shift for patients.

Don’t miss it 💡

Dr. David Birnie explains how the OCEAN trial shows that for many patients with atrial fibrillation who’ve had a successful catheter ablation, long-term blood thinners may no longer be needed.

The trial was co-led by Dr. Atul Verma of the Centre universitaire de santé McGill - McGill University Health Centre and involved 56 centres and more than 1,200 patients across multiple countries over a three-year period.

The study was published in The New England Journal of Medicine.

Le Dr David Birnie explique comment l'étude OCEAN a démontré que les patients qui ont subi une ablation fructueuse de la fibrillation auriculaire par cathéter n’ont peut-être plus besoin d’une anticoagulothérapie à long terme.

Codirigé par le Dr Atul Verma du Centre universitaire de santé McGill - McGill University Health Centre, cet essai international a réuni 56 centres et plus de 1 200 patients et patientes à travers le monde sur une période de trois ans.
