Yesterday’s maple syrup tasting turned into a pancake adventure! 🥞🍁

One of our lovely residents had a special request: “Can you make the pancakes even smaller?”

Well… challenge accepted!
Out came the tiniest, most adorable mini pancakes you’ve ever seen — we’re talking bite-sized perfection. Everyone had a good laugh watching them get smaller and smaller.
But we couldn’t stop there…

Just when she thought the fun was over, we surprised her with the complete opposite — one BIG pancake!

The reaction? Absolutely priceless. She laughed so hard, it had the whole room in stitches. Moments like these remind us that it’s the little (and big!) things that bring the most joy. ❤️

We didn’t just celebrate St. Patrick’s Day once… we celebrated it twice! 🍀💚

Our first party featured an amazing international set, bringing great energy and fun for everyone. Then we kept the celebration going with a second fantastic party featuring Terry Marcotte — and wow, what a way to keep the spirit alive!

We enjoyed delicious cupcakes and Lucky Charms Rice Krispy squares made by our incredible Activity Manager Sydney, along with fresh fruit and veggies prepared by our wonderful kitchen team. And of course, we topped it all off with green wine and Irish beer to celebrate in true St. Patrick’s Day style! 🍻

We kept it simple with two Irish beers and one cider to mix things up. Paired everything with crispy beer-battered onion rings and some great Irish music in the background 🎶

The biggest surprise of the night? Turns out Guinness wasn’t everyone’s favorite! 😅 Always fun discovering new tastes and comparing notes.

Today truly felt like spring, and we of course had to hit up Wheelers Maple Products sugar bush 🍁🌞

The scenic drive out to Lanark Highlands was absolutely beautiful — sunshine, winding country roads, and that fresh spring air just hitting different after a long winter. You could smell the maple before we even got inside!

We loved learning all about the maple syrup process — from how they tap the trees, to boiling it down in the evaporator, and discovering the different grades and flavours of maple syrup. It was so interesting to taste the different grades and flavours and really notice the differences.

For some of us, it was our very first time having real, fresh maple syrup… and let’s just say, we can’t go back to the old way now.

The pancakes were perfectly fluffy, the French toast was golden and delicious, and the sausage was the perfect savoury addition. Everything just tasted better with that fresh syrup poured on top.

Afterward, we wandered through the shop and of course couldn’t leave empty-handed — we stocked up on some sweet goodies to bring home.

Such a perfect way to welcome spring 🌸🍁

🚓 Not one. Not two. But THREE amazing officers from the Ottawa Police Service joined us for a very special presentation on fraud and scams!

A huge thank you to Ottawa Police Service for spending time with our residents and staff, sharing expert advice and running real-life scenarios to show us exactly what to do if we ever face a scam situation. It was eye-opening, informative, and incredibly empowering.

We learned how to:
🔎 Spot common fraud tactics and red flags
💳 Identify whether a bill is fake by checking key security features like raised ink, holograms, transparent windows, and detailed serial numbers
📞 Respond confidently if we receive suspicious calls, emails, or texts
🔐 Change our online banking passwords every 3 months (who knew?!)

The interactive scenarios really brought everything to life and helped our residents practice staying calm and taking the right steps in real-time.

Knowledge is power — and thanks to this fantastic session, we are even more prepared to protect ourselves and our community. 💙

We truly appreciate our local officers for their dedication to keeping everyone informed and safe!

We can’t wait to have them back in a few months!

On our second day of 'Day in the Life', we enjoyed meeting new friends and families gathered to celebrate memorable moments in retirement.

Our residents and visitors, including the many that joined the exercise classes, enjoyed well deserved home baking and hot chocolate. Our Food Services Manager Tatiane shared tips on making the absolute best frothy chocolate drinks – with whipped cream and marshmallows of course!

We always love seeing the Private Dining Room filled with friends sharing meals and making memories together. Our amazing Dining Room Supervisor Deborah made sure everyone enjoyed their dining experience.

Our Friday afternoon social was a special treat with outstanding charcuterie boards and an assortment of drinks that the residents, visitors and guests absolutely loved – thank you to our Culinary and Activities teams!

Our entire Foxview team takes tremendous pride in our residence and sharing it with you means everything to us. WE THANK YOU!
