What is Four-Square Breathing?

Discover the art of conscious breathing with the Four-Square technique. Inhale, hold, exhale, and pauseβ€”each breath is a step toward grounding yourself in the present moment, promoting relaxation and mental clarity. It is a simple way to manage stress and anxiety in the moment.

How to Practice:

Inhale (4 seconds):
Breathe in deeply through your nose for a count of four, filling your lungs with fresh, rejuvenating air.

Hold (4 seconds):
Pause at the top of your inhale, allowing the oxygen to circulate and energize your body.

Exhale (4 seconds):
Slowly release your breath through your mouth for a count of four, letting go of tension and stress.

Pause (4 seconds):
Embrace the stillness at the bottom of your exhale, preparing for the next breath cycle.
