Today is the winter solstice — the shortest day of the year — and from here on out, the days start getting longer again. 🌅
It’s not dramatic or instant… but it does make a difference.

Something I used to push through that I now rest through…

Fatigue.

I used to tell myself to just power through it. Have more caffeine. Be more disciplined. Try harder.
But my body kept reminding me that rest isn’t a reward — it’s a requirement.

These days, wellness looks like listening sooner.
Saying no without a long explanation.
Letting a warm cup of tea be enough for the moment.

Still learning. Still practicing. Still choosing gentler when I can 🤍🍵

Okay, so a few things I’m learning as I work through this…

I used to think healing meant talking everything to death or uncovering every single thing that ever hurt me.

Turns out… a lot of it is just calming my body down 😅

Some stuff that’s been helping me (very imperfectly):

• Slowing down on purpose
Like actually pausing. Taking a breath. Letting my shoulders drop when I notice they’re up by my ears. Nothing fancy.

• Less noise when I can manage it
Too much scrolling, background noise, or rushing around definitely makes everything feel worse for me. Even a few quiet minutes helps more than I expected.

• Having tiny routines
Same tea, same spot, same time of day. I didn’t think this mattered, but it weirdly makes me feel safer.

• Calling it what it is
Instead of “why am I like this?” I try to remind myself:
“Oh… my nervous system is just on high alert again.”
That alone takes the edge off.

• Going slower than feels productive
This is the hardest one. I want to rush healing. But every time I do, my body pushes back.

I’m not healed. I’m not an expert.
Some days I do this well, other days I forget everything and spiral a bit.

But I’m learning that small, gentle things done over and over actually count.
