This is who shows up in the therapy room — not just you, but me too. 🌿
Even though I have training and a professional role, I’m still deeply connected to the child in these photos. I recognize that child’s experiences have strongly informed the human being and therapist I am today. In session, I bring different parts of me – my empathy, curiosity, humor, and creativity. These help me connect with others. After all, therapy isn’t about an “expert” solving a client’s “problems.” It’s about two humans sharing space, working together, and having meaningful conversation. 🌞
In the work of Dr. Richard Schwartz (founder of Internal Family Systems), we explore the idea that we all have different “parts” within us. The protective part(s). The vulnerable part(s). The compassionate and calm parts. None of them are random — they all carry wisdom shaped by your experiences.
And here’s the beautiful (and very human) truth: every time we enter a social interaction, we bring parts of ourselves with us. We bring our knowledge. Our identities. Our past relationships. Our stressors. Our coping mechanisms. We carry younger versions of ourselves alongside the person we are becoming. 🌱
Sometimes those parts work together with ease. Sometimes they clash. Sometimes one part gets pretty loud. Therapy can be a space to slow down and gently get to know them — with curiosity instead of judgment.
If you’ve been navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the weight of your own inner world, you don’t have to sort through it alone. At Whole Sum Wellness, I offer a warm, collaborative space where all your parts are welcome. 🌼
I’m currently accepting new clients and would be honored to connect. Reach out if you’d like to explore what support could look like for you.
