GlobeCorp Rescue is on-hand today and tomorrow at the Riceville Fair for on-site medical services. Two of our trained staff will be around to say ‘hi’ and, if needed, provide assistance to anyone who may require our services.

DYK? Our on-site medical support vehicle is a former MoH dual stretcher ambulance, which provides us with a climate controlled room to treat multiple people at a time, if needed?

GlobeCorp Rescue is exploring offering a Canadian Red Cross First Responder to Emergency Medical Responder bridge course(s) primarily focused on existing firefighters who wish to further expand their medical knowledge, or to pre-service graduates looking to better prepare themselves for a career in emergency services. This program meets or exceeds the Paramedic Association of Canada’s National Occupancy Competency Profile for Emergency Medical Responders.

Pre-requisites are to already have your Red Cross First Responder (must be valid).
We are just exploring interest at this time, course would likely be held in Rockland or Orleans, and is 40-hours of instructional time. Two options are available: Mon-Fri, or split weekends. Cost would be $550+tax, printed manuals are available to purchase as well.

Standard First Aiders save countless lives every year. The initial public response to a life threatening emergency is a vital link in the chain of survival. Not yet trained? Don’t wait for it to be too late…

Imagine how many lives would be saved if more people (including me) knew how to deal with an emergency, says Guardian features writer Simon Hattenstone

Sometimes people ask, “What do you do when you’re not out teaching first responders, providing on-site medical services, or attending fire scenes for medical rehab?” The answer is, we check, and double check all of our equipment so that we are ready to go at a moments notice. Sometimes when we have to wait for batteries to charge though, we try and have a little fun. Here’s Floating Frank, Rescue Randy, Crash Kelly and our Chief Instructor enjoying some down time while waiting. ;)

With a whopper of a storm headed our way, it is important to remind ourselves that shovelling snow can be stressful exercise, and causes thousands of injuries each year, and can be a significant cause of heart attack.

Shovelling snow is like a sport unto itself! It is certainly a work-out so it’s important to know how to do it without running the risk of injury. It doesn’t take much to save you a lot of headaches (or should we say, backaches).

Doing regular equipment checks today. Checking equipment before it is needed allows for everyone to be confident in equipment performance when it is needed most! Today’s checks included replacing batteries in our Masimo Rad-57 Pulse CO/Oximeters and recharging our our WelchAllen NIBP unit. We also checked all expiry dates to ensure everything is good to go!
