Dr. Lesley Williams’ career spans far more than a successful orthodontic practice. She broke barriers as one of the few women in her dental class. She influenced credentialing standards for orthodontics internationally.

A former Team Canada athlete, practice owner, mentor and international examiner, Dr. Williams has shaped the standards of her specialty. Alongside her late twin sister, Dr. Michele Williams—an oral medicine specialist and cancer research advocate—her story is also one of resilience, leadership and giving back to the profession.

Great session today at Pacific Dental Conference highlighting the importance of Sports Dentistry. CDA President Dr. Bruce Ward shared remarks encouraging dentists to learn more about protecting athletes’ oral health and preventing dental injuries.

Speakers Dr. Hans Stasiuk, Dr. Greg Chang, Dr. Jan Chithalen and Dr. Kristin Yont discussed preventing dental injuries, supporting athletes’ oral health, and managing dental trauma both on the field of play and in the clinic. The session also explored new technologies including stabilizing/bite-correction mouthguards, smart mouthguards and 3-D printed mouthguards.
