💙 Thank You, Westboro! Together, We Moved the Caravan Forward! 🚐✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Westboro BIA fundraising event on December 6.
Your generosity, energy, and community spirit made the day unforgettable.

To our community members who stopped by, donated, asked questions, shared stories, and cheered us on — we are grateful for you.

To the organizations and local businesses that contributed cash and in-kind support — thank you for investing in the health and wellbeing of the community.

To our dedicated staff and volunteers who showed up with heart, time, and enthusiasm — you are the engine of this Caravan.

And a special thank you to the Westboro Village BIA for hosting us and giving our mission such a visible platform. Your partnership strengthens community care.

Thanks to all of you, we were able to secure both monetary and in-kind donations that directly support mental health, youth empowerment, family programs, food security, transportation access, and community wellness. 💛

🚐 The Caravan keeps moving!

Our Gift of Health Campaign continues until January, and there is still time to make a difference.

Did you know the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is reporting an early and intense start to flu season leading to unprecedented volumes in the Emergency Department and a higher-than-usual number of flu cases and complications for this time of year?

Ottawa Public Health is urging everyone six months and older to get their flu vaccine as soon as possible. Vaccination remains a key tool for protection against influenza, including severe outcomes and is especially important this season for children due to the rise in severe illness.

Registered clients of the Primary Care Clinic may call and book an appointment with our nurses to receive their annual flu shot.

🚐✨ Join Us TOMORROW for Our Gift of Health Fundraiser!

Tomorrow is the day! 💙
We’re gathering at Winston Square (399 Winston Ave) from 12 PM to 4 PM with the Westboro BIA — and we’re inviting YOU to be part of something powerful.

Our community is on a journey to raise $8,000 to support mental health, youth programs, family services, food security, transportation access, and community wellness.
We’ve already started the Caravan rolling… now we need YOU to keep it moving.

💛 Why show up tomorrow?

Because your presence matters.
Your donation matters.
Your voice, your support, your energy — it all matters.

Together, we can:
✔ Help seniors get to essential appointments
✔ Support youth with safe spaces and meals
✔ Provide families with care and connection
✔ Fight food insecurity in our neighbourhood
✔ Build a stronger, more resilient community

✨ HOW YOU CAN TAKE ACTION:

👉 Join us in person at Winston Square
👉 Bring a donation (cash or in-kind)
👉 Take a photo in the Caravan frame
👉 Spread the word — bring a friend, a neighbour, a colleague

💙 This is more than a fundraiser — it’s a movement.

Let’s show what a caring community can do when we come together.

We’re excited to share that, thanks to the generosity of our community, we have officially crossed the $1,000 mark in our Gift of Health Holiday Campaign! 🎉💛

To everyone who has donated online, dropped off contributions, or posed with our Caravan frame — thank you. Your support fuels mental health services, youth programs, family supports, food security initiatives, community wellness, and access to transportation for those who need it most.

But our journey isn’t over yet — we still have about $7,000 left to raise to reach our $8,000 goal.
And every gift moves us forward.

💛 How you can support the Caravan today:

Did You Buy Packaged Bread Between 2001–2015? You May Be Eligible! If you purchased packaged, pre-sliced bread in Canada between November 2001 and March 2015, you could be eligible to participate in the Loblaws class-action lawsuit regarding price-fixing before December 12, 2026. This includes brands such as Wonder, Country Harvest, D’Italiano, Villaggio, and more. Check your eligibility and submit a claim here: Canadian Bread Settlement: https://www.canadianbreadsettlement.ca/

Can I Pay it Forward?

Absolutely. Instead of keeping your compensation, consider giving it back to the community. It takes 2 claims to feed a community with soup here at CarlingtonCHC. Support families and individuals experiencing food insecurity in our area by donating your claim here: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/carlington-community-health-centre/campaign/The%20Gift%20of%20Health
