CSRF Vancouver Oct. 23-25
Here are some great resources from that we received at the conference this year. These booklets focus on consent and gender-based violence prevention. If you are in the field of education or mental health, these booklets can help with how to address these topics with your students, clients or patients.

I really love how describes the shame cycle. Shame can permeate all aspects of our lives, and is especially present in people who struggle with substance use and other addictive or compulsive behaviours, such as gambling, shopping and s*x. Reflect on how shame shows up in your life and the difficulty that arises when you try to create meaningful change in dysfunctional or unhealthy behaviours.

Last weekend I had the privilege and pleasure of attending a women's retreat by .mindset.retreats . Over the weekend, we focused on setting intentions, being mindful and present, journaling and learning more about women's health.
I did a presentation on Female s*xuality, where we discussed different types of desire, attachment styles and how stress impact our s*xual relationships.

Just added a couple of new books to my bookshelf!
Have you read either of these books?
Emily Nagoski is an author that I really enjoy. I posted about one of her other books "Come as You Are" on my page.
Peggy Kleinplatz is a huge inspiration to me. As a young undergrad student, I took one of her classes at the University of Ottawa (probably Intro to Human Sexuality) and was immediately enraptured by her approach to s*xuality. I can honestly say that having her as one of my earliest mentors has been incredibly influential on me as a person and as a therapist. I know that what I learn from these books will help my clients develop a better, healthier s*x life.
I highly recommend both of these authors when it comes to the topic of human s*xuality.

Just bought this book- a classic for s*x education. It is written by Emily Nagoski, who is also featured in the Netflix docuseries called The Principles of Pleasure. This book covers the basics (such as anatomy and consent) and other topics (such as arousal, desire and or**sm) using a socio-cultural perspective. Her writing is engaging and she writes from a s*x-positive lens. Would highly recommend for clients and mental health professionals!

I highly recommend this book for anyone who needs a little push in the right direction. A fellow therapist friend lent it to me and I loved it so much that I bought it for my sister-in-law.
The writing is empowering and inspiring and written through a feminist lens, with funny anecdotes throughout.
