Why boxing for Parkinson's?
When people first hear about boxing for Parkinson's, they sometimes raise an eyebrow. Boxing? Really? But the science is clear — and the results speak for themselves.
Boxing training improves:→ Reaction time and coordination
→ Balance and core stability
→ Cardiovascular endurance→ Posture and trunk rotation→ Dual tasking ability — doing two things at once
→ Confidence and mood and also happens to be genuinely fun.
And fun matters because the exercise you enjoy is the exercise you actually do.At Boxing 4 Health, nobody gets punched. But everybody gets stronger. 🥊

Why exercise is medicine for Parkinson's
Exercise isn't just helpful for Parkinson's. For many people, it's the most powerful tool available. Research shows that regular, vigorous exercise can:
→ Slow the rate of motor symptom progression
→ Improve balance and reduce fall risk
→ Support dopamine function in the brain
→ Improve sleep quality
→ Reduce depression and anxiety
→ Improve quality of life significantly
The key words are regular and vigorous. A gentle walk is wonderful. But the brain responds best to movement that is challenging, varied, and consistent. This is why we built what we built at Boxing 4 Health.

The #1 thing you can do today

If someone you love has just been diagnosed with Parkinson's or if you have been here is the single most important thing the research supports:
Move. Every day. Intentionally. Exercise is the only intervention consistently shown to slow the progression of Parkinson's symptoms. Not just maintain actually slow. You don't need a gym. You don't need to run a marathon. You need movement that challenges your balance, coordination, and cardiovascular system regularly, over time. That's what we help people do. And it works.

What causes Parkinson's?
The honest answer is: we don't fully know yet. Researchers believe Parkinson's is caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. About 10–15% of cases have a known genetic link. The rest appear to involve complex interactions between genes and environment including exposure to certain pesticides, head trauma history, and other factors still being studied. What we do know is that lifestyle factors especially exercise play a meaningful role in how the condition progresses. That's not a small thing. That's actually enormous.

🧠 Big news for the Parkinson’s community!
I spent last night with neurologists from The Ottawa Hospital — and left feeling hopeful.
A new drug called Tavapadon is in its final stages of testing:
✅ Once-daily pill
✅ As effective as current medications
✅ Fewer side effects less hallucinations, blood pressure drops & impulse control issues
Potentially available 2027/2028 🙌
The science is moving. So are we. 💛
