MAY YOU FIND IT NOW
I'm sure many share with me concerns about of the state of the world these days.
I certainly reflect on it during my morning quiet time.
As I reflect, and over several conversations lately the word "God" comes up in many forms. Too often their are signs (as witnessed by a majority of historical wars and genocides) it a case of my "God" is the only "God" and yours is a "False God".
A striking statement read this morning: "The great, good God looked down and smiled and counted each His loving child, for monk and Brahmin, Turk and Jew, loved Him through the gods they knew."
~Alfred, Lord Tennyson
I'm not a religious person, but learned through the school of hard knocks, THERE IS A POWER GREATER THAN ME IN THIS WORLD. real revelation, but if you really think about it, isn't it true.
In a world of labelers, I choose the call this my Higher Power, call it what you want: learn to listen to it and act according.
I do believe, no matter the label you may have, there is one overseeing authority, and I hope we all come to that realization before it is too late.
Had to get this off my chest!!

Every new day brings new opportunities. Decide in advance to look for the good, to seize the moment, to feed the positive, to w**d the negative, and to be your best while bringing out the best in others.

If you want to change your situation, you must first change your thoughts.

If you keep on thinking what you have been thinking, you'll keep on getting what you've been getting.

Often I'm asked, particularly by those I greet at Walmart, how I manage to be upbeat nearly all the time.
I can honestly say it is genuine, a learned skill, and anchored in a belief that there is a Higher Power at work well outside of me, and that if I take the time to be attuned, my mood stays positive.
A reading this morning lays out a road map some of you might want to try. I'm here if you have questions.
Formative Minutes
Thrice blest whose lives are faithful prayers, whose loves in higher love endures. -Alfred, Lord Tennyson
A Wonder Bread commercial reminded viewers of the importance of "the formative years"-the first five years of life when a child's foundation is established. The ad suggested it was important to feed the child Wonder Bread, which "builds strong bodies 12 ways." The premise of the commercial was correct. The early years of life imprint the important programs upon which a life will be built.
Each day is like a life unto itself, and so the first minutes of each day are the formative minutes. We must take special care to sound the keynote that will set the tone for our entire day. How do you begin your day? Do you spend it with God, in peace, in attunement with yourself? Or do you pop out of bed and immediately dive into the busy-ness of the day, postponing your soul's needs in favor of lesser activities?
For many years, I have begun my day with mediation and prayer. Before I speak to anyone, do chores, or even think about work, I sit and commune with Spirit. This practice has empowered my life in such profound ways that I cannot conceive of starting my day in any other way.
Take at least the first 20 minutes of your day to meditate, pray, read an inspiring book, practice yoga or tai chi, walk in the woods, sing, dance, or engage in any practice that links you to a higher power. Establish your center, and the day that follows will reflect clarity, strength, and love. Any time you spend with Spirit will be returned and will multiply many times over. Whenever possible, renew your spirit throughout the day. Even a few seconds of closing your eyes and remembering the presence of love will make a big difference. At the end of your day, be with God before entering sleep. The formative minutes will build the consciousness that makes a productive life.

A very thoughtful day ahead.
Today we will loose a very close friend to assisted death. While we will miss her terribly, we appreciate the why and commend her courage.
Strokes as a result of a lengthy battle with Parkinson's took away any quality of life totally, and we understand why this bright, humorous dear friend made the decision she did.
We said our goodbyes, got to reaffirm our love for her, but letting go will not be easy.
I just pray that we can be there for those she leaves behind (including my very close friend, her husband of decades) who is going through the wrath of dementia.
Feels better to get these feelings from the inside to the outside.
As I go through my morning routine, I came across a reading that rang so true, and on topic with something we have often discussed with our friend.
While we still have a life in front of us, this reading may help me and others enjoy the life ahead.
Move the Spotlight
If someone in your life talked to you the way you talk to yourself, you would have left them long ago. -Dr. Carla Gordan'
I wondered why I had signed up for this expensive astrology consultation. As the astrologer discussed my chart, I found myself feeling bored and impatient. Finally, he made an assessment that rang my chimes: "You are the kind of person who, if you did a job with 99 percent excellence, would berate yourself for the other one percent." I had never thought about myself that way, but he was correct. The entire reading and fee were worth that insight.
The amount of abusive self-talk we put up with is incredible. We must retrain our mind to spotlight what is working rather than what is not. The rational mind is programmed to search for errors and imperfections. But the nature of the heart is to find what is lovable and expand on that. The habit of fault-finding is learned and, as such, we can re-educate our vision to find perfection. A Course in Miracles tells us that we are much too tolerant of mind-wandering. We allow our fearful mind to run in every which way without calling it to return to sanity. We will have as much insanity in our lives as we allow; we can eliminate it entirely if we choose.
In prayer or meditation, ask that you become aware of patterns of thought with which you hurt yourself: "Poor me," "Never enough," and "Why can't 1?" are trains of thought that will take you over a cliff if you ride them. If you read the destination printed on the train before you step onto it, you can choose another train and replace those negative patterns with "Blessed me," "Always enough," and "How can 1?" A Course in Miracles asks us to affirm, "1 can elect to change all thoughts that hurt. "
Instead of being a fault-finder, become a perfection-finder, and quickly the world you live in will reflect your vision.
Show me how to think in harmony with Your will. I want to live in the world You created.
I find the good because I seek it.
